Inspired by hideous fungal infections in insects, Naughty Dog has imagined what would happen if the infections were to jump species to humans in The Last of Us. The result is some of the abominations you'll face as Joel and Ellie journey across a post-apocalyptic USA.
With cities reclaimed by nature, you'll see a lot of eerily deserted streets and buildings, while various classes of infected stalk the dark corners. Meanwhile, you'll also have brutal human survivors to contend with, as if the infected weren't troublesome enough.
The Last of Us Creative Director Neil Druckmann and Game Director Bruce Straley lend some insight into the sights and sounds you'll encounter along the way, with some new gameplay footage to whet your appetite for the launch of The Last of Us on June 14th. Check out the vid below.
