Assassin's Creed Movie: Ubisoft Announces Partnership with New Regency and Fox

The Assassin's Creed movie is moving ahead unabated, with Ubisoft Motion Pictures (Ubi's own film and TV department formed in January 2011) today announcing that it's partnered up with New Regency to develop the film "in close collaboration". A screenplay is currently in the works, with the project now being "fast tracked" into production as "the creative pieces come together".

Ubisoft is to maintain creative control over the key elements of the Assassin's Creed film, which can only be considered a good thing, while Prometheus, X-Men: First Class and Shame actor, Michael Fassbender is also attached to the movie. The new partnership forged between Ubisoft Motion Pictures and New Regency comes off the back of Fassbender's involvement.

“We wanted to do everything we could to secure the rights to Assassin's Creed, which Ubisoft has maintained with such care and quality over the years,” said New Regency President and CEO, Brad Weston. "Having just finished working with Michael on Steve McQueen’s 12 Years A Slave (with Plan B) made the partnership even more irresistible."

Ubisoft is also working on a Rabbids TV series, that'll consist of 78 seven-minute CGI episodes, developed in partnership with France Televisions and Nickelodeon. Ubisoft Motion Pictures is also pushing ahead with feature-length movies for Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell and Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon. So, there you go. There'll be lots of video game-related movies coming your way. We're not quite sure whether that's a good thing or not...

A convoluted and over-hyped plot on the big screen? No thanks.

This should be rated R, but somehow I see them pulling what Expendables 2 did. Which wasn't a bad job but sad to say lacked something. All those action legends yet.......

So long as Uwe Boll is no where near this movie, I'd give it a shot. That jackass could f**k up a wet dream.
