CD Projekt RED Unveils Cyberpunk 2077 With New Details Written Thursday, October 18, 2012 By
Witcher 2 developer CD Projekt RED has officially lifted the lid on Cyberpunk 2077, the AAA RPG inspired by Mike Pondsmith's 80s pen-and-paper RPG series, revealing a few more details on the game to go with the name change which adds a year as a suffix. Cyberpunk 2077 was previously known simply as Cyberpunk. The developer is taking movies like Blade Runner, William Gibson's novels and the Cyberpunk 2020 pen-and-paper game to inspire its atmosphere, with 2077 being a time where you'll find yourself in "a world where advanced technologies have become both the salvation and the curse of humanity." Cyberpunk 2077 will be a sandbox-style RPG with diverse action gameplay and a multi-thread, non-linear story that's designed with mature players in mind. Set in the "sprawling metropolis" of Night City and the surrounding areas, you'll get to visit places from Cyberpunk 2020, including "a combat zone completely taken over by gangs, the legendary Afterlife joint and the nostalgic Forlorn Hope." You'll also have guns, rifles, implants and a multitude of gadgets at your disposal in Cyberpunk 2077, which unfortunately has yet to be assigned to any specific platforms. Hopefully, it'll be coming to consoles in the near future. Preferable before 2077. Stay tuned! ![]()
