There's no less than two game of the year contenders out this week, fighting for your attention, adoration and cash. One of them screams AAA production values, dripping with beautiful art, an expansive campaign and some interesting gameplay mechanics. The other comes from a source you wouldn't usually expect to be included in GOTY chats:  turn-based strategy.

I'm talking of course about Dishonored and XCOM: Enemy Unknown. Our sister site X360A has already turned its critical gaze onto the first, awarding it a whopping 93/100. The other, meanwhile, won us over when we first saw it and continues to astound. Seriously, Editor Dan played it for the first time a couple of weeks ago and I have a text on my phone saying, "WHY DIDN'T YOU TELL ME XCOM WAS THIS GOOD?" It really is promising. Hold on for a review soon.

Xcom for me - have fond memories of the original on PC.

Dishonored being a single player only game will drop in price fast (however hope it sells well :D).

I would get Toki to Wa aka Time and Eternity, but i'm saving my money for Mugen Souls Limited Edition with Petite Nendoroid figures next week.

@#1 Agreed getting XCOM as well, it should be fun to play. Especially when it is something different and based on strategy.

@3 Yeah WRC is out this week in Europe ;-) Also missing from list is: Of Orcs and Men PS3 this is also out in EU this week....

I'm tempted to get XCOM, but I think I'll rent it first to see what its all about. I've been burned before buying a new release only to find it utter garbage.

As for Dishonored, I pre-ordered that the moment it was available and have been looking forward to it ever since.

The end of the month is when the flow of games arrive for me, starting with Medal of Honor: Warfighter and Assassin's Creed III. Though Dishonored and XCOM: Enemy Unknown are both looking amazing. :)
