Borderlands 2's Mechromancer, Gaige Appears in First Screenshot

We don't normally get all that excited about a single screenshot, unless it's something really exceptional, and indeed in this case we will choose to make an exception. This is a first proper look at Borderlands 2's Mechromancer, Gaige since the reveal of her final design last month.

Gaige has her own death-dealing robot, fittingly called Deathtrap, who follows her around and racks up a few kills to help out. Both Gaige and Deathtrap have their own skill trees to level up, like the rest of Borderlands 2's classes. Gearbox is apparently planning more classes in the future to be offered as DLC too.

The Mechromancer is set for release on October 16th for $9.99. She's also free for anyone who pre-ordered Borderlands 2. Check her out below. For more DLC, you can also snap up the Season Pass for $29.99. Read our Borderlands 2 review to find out what we thought of the shoot 'n' loot sequel.

I need to do that too. They really screw you over with the amount of things you can store. They should fix that while they're at this dlc.

While I agree with you Kindred that people should play it normal at least once, but me personally, after beating the game normally, I'd rather just quickly get the other classes leveled up and set to use as alts for playing with friends. I think people should play normal, but after beating it I don't feel that exploiting the system is that bad imo.

I did not keep the Flesh Stick mission. I will make a run with this character and it be to the bone too. Then any levels I have left will be accumulated in Vault Hunter mode, easy peasy. I seriously just hope she has some class-based trophies like the previous 4 in Borderlands 2. It'd be neat.

I expect the flesh stick exploit to be patched before or with this Mecromancer update.

If we bought the Season's pass, do we still have to pay 9.99? The Season's Pass only mentions the (what I'm assuming) 4 episodic DLCs.

@ 8,
Amen to that. If we pre-order it they need to give us a better incentive to keep the game. I pre-ordered Battlefield 3 Limited Edition thinking it would be the best and now it isn't. Sold it and bought the Premium Edition. Will be doing the same with Assassin's Creed 3. Planning on keeping Borderlands 2. Just wish they would stop fucking with the people who pre-ordered it. We deserve more respect.

@#8 if you knew what you're talking about you'd realise this is actually coming out sooner then it should. they aren't making you pay to unlock the full game, you already have that in your possession, you're paying for extra features that could had never existed. they're adding to the game and not just releasing a kb dlc to unluck stuf already in it. btw this was supposed to only come out 60-90 days after launch.

@10 if you knew what you was talking about you would realise that these game companies cut the games short so they can sell you the rest of your game at a later date.

If you beleve that you are getting extra game for your money you have been brainwashed by these companies.

When i grew up you got your full game day 1 and to get extra stuff on it you unlocked it in game by playing the game now they just make you buy the unlocks.

@11 - lol I agree, games back in the day had more heart and passion, now its all about money. And yeah I wouldn't doubt if that was the real intention these days. I'd say for a full DLC SP addition 10 bucks is fine but 10 bucks for a Character? I think its maybe worth more like 5 dollars in my opinion. =/

I see both sides of the argument but consider this: What game existed on the NES or the Sega Genesis that made you want to play for a hundred hours, and then all of a sudden something unlocks and you play for a hundred more. I remember paying $30-$40 for games and I played 30-40 hours before getting sick of it and selling the game. Now I pay $60 for a new game and $30 for additional content and get literally hundreds of hours of play. Sounds like we are getting MORE for our money not even though we are paying more rather than less... but this may be different depending on how fats you get bored.

I dunno. In my day I loved X-wing Vs TIE Fighter so much I bought the Balance of Power missions pack, Dark Forces II enough to buy the Mysteries of the Sith expansion pack, Diablo II enough to buy the Lord of Destruction expansion pack, and Star Trek Voyager: Elite Force to buy the "Star Trek Voyager: Elite Force Expansion Pack." I even bought Firestorm, the expansion to Tiberian Sun.

Capture the Ysalamiri was a fun gametype. Saber Fight all those concussion rifle so-and-sos!
