The Walking Dead Season Coming on Disc This December

If you're one of those people yet to have played Telltale's The Walking Dead series, of which there are currently three episodes available from the PlayStation Network, then you're actually in for something of a treat. This December you'll be able to purchase the entire five episode run on a disc, to enjoy in one big, delightfully bloody chunk.

The news comes following a question from @The_Dukenator on Twitter who asked Telltale Games' Twitter account whether The Walking Dead will be receiving a disc-based release like Back to the Future: The Video Game did. The response came back as follows:

"As a matter of fact, yes! Entire season on disc. Dec 4th in NA for Xbox 360 and PS3. EU dates TBA."

So, there you have it! You'll be able to grab The Walking Dead's five episode season - fingers crossed for more seasons in the future - on disc on December 4th. We'll be sure to let you know when those EU dates are revealed too.

Awesome, I've been holding off on this to see if they'd do a complete release.

Damnit, a month or two too early. Australia will still miss out getting a classification, given R18+ isn't due until Jan/Feb. Import it is.

Good thing I waited, I kinda figured it was coming to disc and most likely with a platinum like Back to the Future?

I think they mean Feb 2013. Judging by the usual delays Telltale monthly releases, I'll always take a release date with a pinch of salt.

I am really enjoying the game tho, and very much hopeful for future releases.

Episode 4 and 5 won't even be out by then! Those who have bought the disc version will play them before those who bought the season pass on PSN!

@10 that would be a proper kick in the teeth. I hope that doesn't happen.

This settles it, not going to buy another Telltale game before all of its episodes are finished and available on disc.

TWD is great, by the way, kind of like my favourite Telltale game, I think. Well, three fifth of a game, to be precise, lol.

As great as this digital age is, nothing beats having a physical copy of a game.

Woo! I've not played the games yet, waiting for all 5 episodes to release first, but if I get all 5 episodes on a disc (I prefer discs!), and it gets an EU release, I'll be as happy as (Leisure suit) larry!

Personally, I'm glad I bought the season when it was released. Here's the main reason -

To everyone saying they should have waited, here's the problem with that thinking. If everyone waited, it never would have made it to physical disc. It had to sell well digitally for TTG to then release it on disc. So it's kind of a Catch-22 situation, know what I mean?

I hope this does well on both sides to warrant more seasons. Also, new Sam and Max please. ;)

Does this mean we can get 2 platinum's for the same game. 1 disc and 1 for download?

Exactly why I didn't bother buying this off PSN because after they did that with Back to the future I knew they would do this.

My only complaint about this game is the gaps between the episodes... I mean I understand the reason for them but if the disc version comes out and ep 4 isn't on the store i'm gonna be pissed.

Hahahahaha!!!! Maybe the people who buy this game on disc will have all the episodes before everyone who bought it digital (on a ''monthly'' release basis)

I purchased the season pass yesterday for the current 3 episodes and dynamic theme. It's refreshing to play a game that feels like an original PC title on the PS3. I'm enjoying the story so far, but I expect the remaining episodes to be released before the disc as a courtesy to those who supported the digital version.

Episodes 4 & 5 will surely be out before then, otherwise that would be complete bullshit. I'm glad I went ahead and bought the season pass because I'm enjoying the hell out of the episodes as they come out. Sure there's the wait, but it's easy to jump right back into the series where it was last left off and everything.

@27 I find that unlickely since the trophies are already all in the same list and have a platinum trophy.

I just hope I can use the savefile of the digital version.

For those of you thinking episode 4 & 5 wont be out then or that the disk version will contain something that isnt on the store your being insane. If all the episodes are not out by then then the disk version will be delayed because surprise surprise the other episodes are not ready yet. They dont just magically appear ready to be sold and they dont get delayed because the developer enjoys taunting people. They get delayed because they are not finished.
