Gearbox Gunning for More Borderlands 2 Classes

Gearbox has revealed potential post-release DLC plans for Borderlands 2, in addition to the add-ons already outlined.

As previously revealed Borderlands 2 will be getting a suite of four DLC packs (available as part of the Season Pass), as well as the Mechromancer class add-on. But according to Gearbox president Randy Pitchford there might be more.

In a recent Q&A Pitchford said, "We created the ability in Borderlands 2 to add additional characters because we want to use that ability.

"The Mechromancer is the first one. I hope to do more. The success of the Mechromancer will help to define this. Our ambition and passion and our fans requests will also contribute to decision making about what we do.

Referring to the game’s add-ons Pitchford said, "The stuff we're planning and working on for the Campaign DLC Season Pass is big DLC stuff - more like Knoxx." The Secret Armory of General Knoxx was the original Borderlands’ largest add-on.

"We're extremely far along with the first campaign DLC. The second DLC is also in amazing shape. The third DLC is a little farther out and the fourth DLC is just in the pre-concept stages.

"We will have other, non-season pass related DLC,” continued Pitchford. "The additional character (Mechromancer) is one kind of example. The Borderlands 2 team is fired up at the moment. Customer love for the game is driving us wild - making us want to do more and more stuff.

"So, expect that there will be even more beyond the big Campaign DLC in the Season Pass and the additional character. We'll announce more stuff as soon as we are able to be confident in the commitment of the details we share."

Over the weekend, Pitchford hinted at possible directions for the game’s first DLC. Speaking during a Borderlands 2 panel at Gearbox ‘s Software Community Day he made reference to Star War-inspired vehicles.

"I've always wanted to ride a sail barge and drive a sand skiff," said Pitchford. "I've always wanted to do that, and we've got some cool stuff that's along those lines."

Borderlands 2 is out today in Europe.

Yes plz tell me what Im getting in the GOTY edition. cause i find paying $60 for the game then have 4 different DLC's with 3 non pass realted DLC a lil pricey being at $20 a pop. & $10 for each new character. Luckly for me i got the Digital copy from a friend,, yes it may take up alot of space,BUT he paid $60.00 for 2 games,"gameshare", but i prefer the GOTY Edition,a.k.a. thhe true full game version .

I'm going to try to wait for the GOTY because I know there'll be a pile of DLC for this, but adding extra classes makes it hard because I'm less likely to play it more than once if I get it at a later date and I'll miss out on them!

@2 true might save cash that way, but then can't get cool editions, though I am still waiting for my ultimate loot edition to come here from the other side of the country. So yeah in total I'm going to be paying about $200+ depending on how much the rest of the dlc costs.

Sweet. I intended to wait on a GOTY edition, but got a preorder deal where I swapped in a voucher I could only use on pre-order along with 2 horrible FPS's I had 100%'d and never wanna play again and got Borderlands 2 without paying a dime. It's almost stealing lol, but seeing I got it 'free' I will definately shell out for a Season Pass and any Character Classes they bring out with a big old smile on my face

Have I ever mentioned how much I love Gearbox and what they have done with Borderlands? The way they handle DLC is a shining example of how it SHOULD be.

You get a massive game for regular price, then all DLC's just add on to what is already a complete game. Adding more classes as DLC gives a game that already has high replayability even MORE!

And waiting for GOTY is fine if you don't mind waiting AT LEAST 1.5 years, probably 2. Me? I'm glad to show Gearbox how much I appreciate what they have brought to the gaming world. And it's nice to be in Pandora now, not way later.

And #2. Gamesharing? That's great for the gaming community. Please go somewhere else with your negativity, untrue facts and talk of "igamesharing".

I would hope that they would reasonably price other characters instead of having one character be a ridiculous 10 dollars. 10 dollars for 2 characters is a lot better. The characters in this game are even worse priced than the Mortal Kombat characters from last year.

They should be. A Borderlands character is WAY more involved than an MK character. An MK character has 2 Fatalities and.regular and special moves. BL characters have skill trees, etc. I personally think 9.99 is fair.

Ultimate Loot Chest Edition - Check (The Marcus bobblehead is sweet, I give em a little tap every time I kill a "baddass" or boss in-game, he nods with approval)

Premier Club - Check (Free Mechromancer class for preordering a game I was going to preorder anyways?...sweet)

Season Pass - Check (Four DLC packs for the price of three, not hard math to see if its worth it)

New classes they may release - Check

True Story:

Now "why", the old lady asks...Why did you spend nearly $200 on a single game ($150 U.L.C.E + $30 Season Pass + tax, close to $200), when you could have just played other stuff you have sitting around you have not finished yet, then get a game of the year edition later on and save about $140 to buy two other games? (Just to add to her point, she tapped the Marcus bobblehead, so he would nod in agreement with her...grrr)

My responce...Because in this day in age, there are LOADS of games coming out all the time across many platforms, games that are so full of bugs and glitches and lack of shine and polish that it makes someone who is passionate about games cry. (She raises a eyebrow) Got her attention, so I continue...

Games that show the developer was truly passionate about making them show in the game, its not just graphics, not just audio, not just features or functions, not customization, its not any single thing but a complex set of layers that when all brought together in a amazing way, make the game worth more than another, which is why I felt it would justify spending nearly $200 on this one. (The Marcus bobblehead started nodding all by itself...either that or the dog bumped the table leg, but the timing was awesome)

I continue... See I'm not just buying a game with my purchase, I'm sending a message, that message says, produce high quality and greatly entertaining games and I'll buy them. As a consumer, I will support you as a developer by purchasing your stuff at the original asking price, because I want you to get a profit, to be able to have more money and resources to contine to produce more and more of the same high quality content for years to come.

She puts her hand on Marcus's head to stop his bobbing, looks at me and says...I'm not gonna win this one am I?...I just smile, she gives a small chuckle, knowing she will have her revenge at some point.

She walks away, and as soon as her hand comes off Marcus's head he starts bobbing again...I think to myself, I won this battle but not the war, then look to Marcus...he nods in agreement.

I wish the season pass was all inclusive. I'm tired of "it includes this but not this" its nice to get a discount on maps and other DLC by paying up front but then I'm confused later on as to why I don't have certain packs others do.

Borderlands DLC is one of the few that is worth the money. And yeah, if you don't want to spend it now, just wait, and you'll be rewarded for your patience with a GOTY or something. DLC is optional, you don't have to buy it if you don't want to.

Yeah, its the way to go if you want to take a massive dump on the teams that busted ass for years to make this game..

If half the people that played this game, STOLE it, its less money for gearbox, which leads to smaller profit margins that leads to lay offs which leads to the development team closing the doors..

Do you have any idea how many game companies are dying?
Hell, Vivendi is trying to unload Blizzard because of the massive cost to keep WoW running..

Team that made Prototype? Gone now..

The list goes on and on.. but if you are good with it, by all means... continue to be a thief.. not everyone can have the ability of being a honest person..

Oh yeah? I paid unfront to get The Walking Dead. It said it will cost $25 unless you preordered it. So I paid $20 and then find out they secretly reveal on Amazon that a disc version is coming out very soon. The Borderlands 2 dlc is expensive for a game that can be rather empty at times. I loved the first game. It just feels like the midgets and some other enemies are where the game didn't get very creative with. Look past the art design, the amazing gameplay ,fun with co-op and you will see the games flaws. I never get bored with Fallout 3 and Borderlands I do get bored with at some point.

I'll probably wait abit(for the main game ) - atleast till the price goes down since I'm on a tight budget.I do remember Borderlands DLC being largely good (except Mad Moxxi DlC)so I will buy it when available. Most likely won't buy the DLC characters since I only really played with 2 characters (Roland and Lilith) in the first Borderlands.(Thats just my opinion)

I understand people having peeves with Gamesharing, ,,But look at the logic side of the coin, Ps1 games priced at $40.00 , Ps2 games priced at $50.00 , now PS3 GAMES are at $60.00,,,,now lets go bk to Ps2 & ps1there games are the full versions of the game ,, no DLC ,, so suppossed add-ons. just nice long games to enjoy. Lets speed up time, PS3 , i love the system,,,i love the graphics. i love the free availability to play online. But paying $60 should mean a bigger, longer , better story/ graphics /ect. noT HALF OF A PS2 GAME . IF YOU ENJOY PAYING with DLC around $80-$100.00 to experience a full game in todays world right, By all means say imm wrong for trying to get my $$'s worth out . But remember the facts here Companys is all about profit profit AND MORE profit, if you think for one second < they care about us >,, HAHAHAHA ,, they care about your wallet. In fact $20.00 says the so called DLC of the extra characters are in fact a locked Content key. Aside if its sooooo wrong { GAMESHARING } then why does PSN allow it ,, huh, why does the game companys LET Sony do it , it was 5 accounts that could be shared to now just 2 , why not just stop it all together ??/

I'll tell you ! , its not the Gamesharing tearing company's apart , its the Used game market, why pay more when you can less??, ......,, Cause ur a F*@KIN
Idiot. i get 30% off and all games i preorder 2 weeks before street date, thanks to my lil special friend. But for the most part I'd prefer to borrow or buy used. the prices of things in life always go up. but are you getting paid more at ur job/....NO , you need to get a 2nd or 3rd job to just make it threw another yr. So before you thumb down these commemts , remember 1 thing, Go shove that Thumb up ur @SS AND SIT ON IT, you JERK

The only thing killing the industry is bad developers/publishers. Using crooked tactics to get people to pay out the ass for half a game and charging more money for the other half.

Piracy is barely a blip when you realize that most people who pirate games would never have bought the game in the first place. I used to be one of these very people til I got a job and started making good enough money to support my habits. I bought copies the games I actually liked and the rest... well, fuck them.

Used games is a horrible example as well, simply because someone had to buy it new in order for it to be used in the first place.

Long winded comment is long winded.

First off, illegal activity of any kind will hurt the games industry regardless of what that may be. If you don't like the prices on the store then don't buy anything and wait until it either hits retail or pick up a cheap copy off Ebay.

Secondly I can't wait for the DLCs to hit the PS Store as I'm loving every minute of the game so far :D!
