Capcom has announced a forthcoming expansion for Dragon's Dogma this morning, entitled Dark Arisen. There's little in the way of substantial details on the "major expansion", other than the fact that it'll contain more dragons and will be really dark. Capcom released a teaser video and a handful of screens to coincide with the Dark Arisen pack too.

Furthermore, there's free downloadable modes planned for a Dragon's Dogma title update, which will bring Speedrun and Hard modes to the game, enabling players "to put their skills to the test". Speedrun Mode will challenge players to clear the game as quickly as possible with in-game equipment awarded for achieving specific times.

Hard Mode meanwhile ramps up the difficulty with tougher enemies to defeat, with further equipment rewarded.

Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen is scheduled for release in 2013, while Speedrun and Hard Modes are slated to arrive in the "coming months" before the year is out. Both Dark Arisen and the free modes are trailered below, with three screens from the expansion to boot.
