Call of Duty: Black Ops II

Black Ops II's Multiplayer Maps Leaked?

It seems that the Call of Duty: Black Ops II rumour mill is working overtime today, with Se7ensins forums getting hold of leaked beta files that apparently expose the game's 14 multiplayer maps.

Normally, we'd babble about the various maps and details, put since some could include descriptions from the single-player campaign, we'll simply tell you that the list might contain *SPOILERS*. So, it goes without saying that you read the list below at your own risk!

We know that 'Cargo', 'Turbine', 'Aftermath' and 'Socotra' are legitimate, because we've played them, so the list could well be kosher. Here's the fourteen maps and their descriptions:

  • "Carrier" - Chinese Supercarrier. Open engagements on the deck, with great close quarter fights through the hull.
  • "Cargo" - Port of Singapore. Good for close quarters engagements and verticality.
  • "Drone" - Hidden drone facility in the heart of the Mynamar jungles. Great long engagements down the center, fun close quarter fights through the facility.
  • "Express" - Los Angeles bullet train station. Good long to medium engagements up and down the bullet train tracks.
  • "Hijacked" - Luxurious super yacht. Frantic, yet controlled close quarters engagements.
  • "Aftermath" - Downtown Los Angeles. Close engagements in and out of the fallout of Drone attacks.
  • "Meltdown" - Pakistan nuclear power plant. Battle for control of the nuclear cooling tower and the surrounding facilities.
  • "Nightclub" - Floating resort in the middle of the Indian Ocean. Tight corners and angles throughout.
  • "Overflow" - Peshawar, Pakistan. Great urban engagements in the flooded streets.
  • "Raid" - Fight through this hillside mansion, in the Hollywood Hills. Hectic close quarters engagements.
  • "Slums" - Run down section of Panama. Great close quarters engagements and tough chokes to fight over.
  • "Socotra" - Urban streets of Yemen. Tight alleys and close quarters engagements.
  • "Turbine" - Wind farm in the steep hills of Yemen. Fight across the different tiers and angles.
  • "Village" - Border town between China and Kyrgyzstan. Classic engagements and destinations to fight over.

[Thanks, Leland]

Well, if these are the multiplayer maps in Black Ops II, that's fine with me. Pleasantly surprised. :)

If it is true, it is uncomplete, because there will also be a Nuketown 2025 Map.

@7 Yup... Because all the maps are the same size/ dimensions. The only differences are objects and obstacles in different locations.

Black Ops 2 maps were already leaked two years ago (when Black Ops 1 launched).

@10, Those are the core maps, Nuketown 2025 is only for those who pre ordered, So the list CAN be complete.

Only 14 maps? That's about 2 less than what is usually in a CoD game. 2 maps might not be much, but it could be the start of something bad. Hopefully there is another 2 maps on the disc at launch (not including Nuketown 2025).

@15, Yes because More than 10 maps already isn't enough, Geez people always find SOMETHING to complain about.... They're based in the future, Treyarch probably ran out of maps to base from the single player, cut them some slack...

Well hopefully these maps offer a little more variety than the "ratruns" we had in MW3 at launch. My main concern is that the issue of lag/ping isn't such a factor here as on MW3 i.e. you see someone, empty your clip in him and he still kills you - you watch the killcam and hey presto! From his perspective, you haven't even raised your gun! This problem never existed on MW2 or BlackOps 1, so I am hoping with crossed fingers it is rectified on this game.
