The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

Is Skyrim’s Next DLC Called Hearthfire?

Bethesda parent company Zenimax has trademarked something called “Hearthfire,” prompting speculation that the listing relates to Skyrim’s next add-on.

Trademarked back in March, Hearthfire is described as "Computer game software for use with computers and video game consoles; downloadable computer game software offered via the internet and wireless devices."

Bethesda themselves do not comment on trademark filings, so there’s no official conformation, but the term does relate to The Elder Scrolls series. It’s the name of the ninth month in Tamriel, as well as a series of books in the 2920 series.

In addition to this, the third day of that month is something called Tales and Tallows, which is an unofficial holiday celebrating necromancy. Could Hearthfire relate to the undead?

We’ll have to wait and see. Just bear in mind that the trademark listing could pertain to the upcoming MMO, The Elder Scrolls Online. It may also relate to nothing of interest at all, beacause as pointed out below in the comments, we're still waiting for the first DLC, Dawnguard. Still.

I remember seeing a picture someone had taken yesterday that showed that Microsoft messed up and this listed on the XBL store for a few seconds, but it was unpurchaseable. So I'm 99.99% sure that this will be a Skyrim DLC without question.

Now I have to spend the next 20 hours searching my browser history until I can find that photo again. :S

Wasn't that already sort-of known?
I recall them filing it together with Dawnguard and a third one and people making jokes about Bethesda suing ever future game with "fire" in it cause of the lawsuit against Mojang's Scrolls.

@3: really, you're pathetic.

I don't understand why PS3 Fans support Bethesda at all after what they did with Skyrim, and not only that they even tolds us they knew the game had issues on the PS3 Version. If thats not taking the piss what is? And now there at it again with DLC (Dawnguard)...

Doesn't matter, they won't put it on PS3 in a timely fashion anyway.

I bought Skyrim when it initially came out and played it for the following two months until I completed all the questlines.
I look forward to Dawnguard and will get it... but still, it would've been nice to play it when the hype still surrounded the game. Hurry the fuck up.

@3 Just because you pay £40 a year doesn't mean that you should get everything for free, you moron. You're already getting loads of content at a bargain price, stop being a selfish wanker.

So there going to release another batch of DLC and yet we aint even got the first one yet heck I might as well just wait for the whole lot to come out because at this rate I can play my back catalog. be completely taking by Borderlands 2, Assassins Creed 3 and then I can have a good new file on Skyrim knowing I have lots to do with the DLC

I'll still get Dawnguard when it releases, but I'm more apt to go half in with a room mate, now... and the hype for it is all but vanished, so I'm more liable to get it later on.

Bethesda and Capcom are the worst in the biz when it comes to add-on content, though. The former releases it sporadically across various communities, while alienating others, then we have the latter releasing it for everybody at the same time, but printing it on the disc, that you bought, and making you pay an extra fee to use it.

I love Bethesda games, especially Fallout, but at the same time I loathe the developer and their lack of a QA department.

Bethesda can die in a fire. The whole Skyrim debacle really burned me. My desire to care about them was in that fire, subsequently.

This is the exact reason why I put down Skyrim in the first place. They don't ever try to fix a game, but instead throw DLC after DLC out to cover over all the ridiculous amount of bugs in the main game but fail to recognize the DLC has more bugs than the original game. Slowly losing my patience with Bethesda. Somebody needs to tell them to start coming out with quality games and not pushing out so many buggy games. Dislike if you want but you know I'm right.

Don't get me wrong, I think this is all bullshit to because Dawngaurd should have been out on PS3 awhile ago already. So they are being god damn lazy and pissing off fans over and over like jerk off's (like most game companies these days). But at the same time who cares at this point... I'm still gonna get all the DLC and whether we like it or not were waiting. So just relax and play something else lol.

If this is DLC for Skyrim then I hope Sony makes a deal with Bethesda like Microsoft did with Dawnguard. That way Xbox can wait a year to have it while the PS3 fans can enjoy the DLC a year ahead.

It's not Sony's fault that we never got it. Microsoft had a deal with Bethesda to have the DLC earlier.

@28, Microsoft makes you wait 1 month, and you want xbox users to wait a year? you butthurt fanboys are fucking pathetic. it's in bethesda's hands, they are why you still don't have it.

you probably would have had a bunch of issues anyways had they released it with xbox. so STFU and wait so they can fix whatever issues they say they are. maybe you should buy bethesda's games on xbox like me :)

oh and i believe Microsoft has dibs on the first 2 DLC's maybe all of them. i'm not 100% sure.

It's noone's fault other than Bethesda's. Even the exclusivity time span is over now for a while, so there's really no other reason Dawnguard isn't on PS3 yet than they don't want to or cannot make it happen.

After all the PS3 trouble Skyrim was plagued with, I'm surprised people even want to buy anything from them again. Then again, Dishonored looks too good to ignore ...

Well, if this is the second add-on, we won't be getting it right away, either. Once we get Dawnguard, we can talk.
