When he's not running into press conferences dressed as Blanka, Street Fighter IV Producer Yoshinori Ono is not just making fighting games, but now he's offering advice on Capcom's futuristic new science-fiction IP, Remember Me. Showcased for the first time during Gamescom last week, Remember Me sees lithe heroine Nilin hacking into people's memories and remixing them, but she'll be doing some fighting too. That's where Ono comes in, with the fighting game guru visiting Dontnod Entertainment in Paris.

"He's my boss and he and I speak very regularly about the game, and he's come out with me to Paris," Capcom Senior Producer Mat Hart told Eurogamer. "He knows the team and knows the game very well. I always benefit from his wisdom when I'm chatting to him about how we're progressing."

Hart then compared the collaboration to that between Ninja Theory and Capcom on DmC. "The strategy of western development is building teams together - Capcom and a developer coming together and making a game together - as opposed to quite an old-fashioned approach of being adversarial. We're moving away from that."

Hart continued: "This is something Jean-Maxime (Moris, Dontnod Entertainment Creative Director and founding partner) and I have worked on very hard to ensure this is a collaboration. When we saw the game way back last year, we instantly knew this had the DNA to support the Capcom brand and be a really strong part of our portfolio. This is going to be a major franchise for us."

Ono's contribution will see him helping out with Remember Me's combo-based combat, which has dodging, finishing moves and special moves that Nilin will access via a power wheel menu to turn the tide during particularly hairy battles. Remember Me is pencilled in for a May 2013 release.

Remember Me has gotten my interest. Shame it not an exclusive anymore. Sony can be dumb and waste money at times.
