Sometimes, amidst the asset squall of a big game conference, things get missed. Sometimes a game slinks past in the dead of night without you noticing. This week that game was Sly Cooper 4: Thieves in Time.

So apologies for getting this up a few days late, but it’s cheeky colourful charm is undimmed. Check out the trailer below for an introduction to the various rapscallions Sly will be teaming up when Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time hits PS3 and Vita in February next year.

Eagle-eyed readers will also notice that the game has been delayed somewhat. Sony haven’t given a reason for the hold up, but they have confirmed that the game will form part of the Cross Buy program. That means that anyone dishing out for the title on PS3 will automatically receive the Vita version free of charge! See, it’s not all bad news.

  • It's coming in 2013. Not like I was expecting it any sooner anyway.
  • I'm loving the Cross Buy program
  • awesome! they cross buy makes me really want to get this.
  • I thought the whole point was to have it for a 10th anniversary present, but whatever.
  • cross buy IS the reason this is getting delayed if you ask me.
  • I think the delay is because the end of the year will be big release heavy and they don't want Sly lost in the shuffle.
  • #6 yeah that's what I heard as well, if it means the game is more successful and sells more I don't mind waiting a couple extra months.
  • Cant wait. Love sly cooper ever since the first one released on ps2!
  • It let you hear how Sly, Murray, and Bentley all have the same voice actors but didn't let you hear Carmelita... What accent does she have in this game?! Why the suspense? Hopefully it's not as annoying as the Spanish accent from Sly 3.
  • This cross play business is bad news for Vita. It essentially has no games because of this. Why am I going to pay $350 for a Vita + overpriced memory card to play a game that I can get for PS3? Answer: I'm not, I'm going to get that game for PS3*. Sony needs to end cross-play ASAP and make sure Vita gets its own original titles instead of PS3 ports. I can't believe how dumb Sony is for even thinking this was a good idea in the first place. "Hey, let's give the Vita nothing but PS3 ports! And to distract from the fact that we're make sure Vita essentially has no games, we'll give a free Vita copy when you buy the exact same game! People love free shit no matter how useless it is." Terrible, terrible idea Sony. You're making it way too easy to not buy a Vita. *Well, not THIS game, but others.
  • Can I buy the disc version on ps3 and still get the vita version for free
  • @10. I played Sound Shapes up to 90% on my ps3, and I brought my vita to work and finished death mode trophies for plat. That is why cross-play exists. It is a huge selling point for me in my psn games. You obviously don't get it.
  • @11 Yes you are correct. But according to #10 Free games are a bad thing...
  • Sucks, but at least there's less pressure to finish the Sly Collection now. :)
  • Getting Sly Collection This weekend, adding three more Plats :) Cross Play is great. There adults who have busy lives with kids who can appreciate some random gaming away from home or the office. Just because you stay home all day playing doesnt mean everyone else does too. Be patient and relax. I rather a well polished launch and finished product I can enjoy than a rushed game full of bugs.
  • There are*
  • I started the Sly collection last night :) It's so Much fun. Going to preorder Sly 4 soon
  • Totally disappointed to hear about the delay, but I figured it was coming what with Sanzaru always being tight lipped when questioned about a release date... they didn't even give a generic "Fall 2012" answer. But that's just one less dip into my wallet this Fall, plus my hype can't get any higher for this. I've wanted a Sly 4 for 7 years, lol. Also, seeing Carmelita finally softens MY blow. Great trailer, too, though... glad to see that Sly wit intact.
  • @10 Cross play is clearly one of the better ideas for a console, it means I can start a game on my PS3 and then continue it when I'm away from home Genius, if you ask me
  • Wow, you guys were all a little harsh on mjc. I see his point. In order to thrive the Vita needs some solid games developed to be played only on the handheld. I bought the Vita for a few games, and have pretty much finished them. I am awaiting LBP on Vita, and hope that will keep me going for a while, but unlike the PS3 (where I still have a big back log) I am struggling to find games to keep me busy on the Vita. That said, I do not regret my Vita purchase. It is great to have something to wind down with at night, and it's great for travel. Earning trophies while on a plane? Score! I think that the concept of Cross Play is great. If it works as I understand, with game progress seamlessly transferring from the console to the hand held, that will be sweet. However, if this is only an option for digital purchases, then it will be very disappointing :(
  • definately been playing the sly collection, never played the games before. cant believe i waited this long! i love how they are starting this cross buy program, 2 trophy sets and portability for the price of one game! love it!!! i used to be a microsoft fan, now i think ill pretty much just use my xbox for halo!
  • Could ps3trophies.org sue fullmalls.com or something, please? @crossplay: The complaint is not making much sense since it's not crossplay's fault the Vita is not getting enough awesome exclusive titles. Being able to play some of the ps3's games also on the Vita is a definite plus for the handheld. It's not keeping vita games from being made.
  • @10 your a fucking dick head. sly 4 will be great on vita and cross play means you get two games for the price of 1. would you rather pay 80 quid for the game on both consoles then? you prick, this will be so awesome
