Far Cry 3 Co-Op Trailer Reveals Characters, Story and Locations

Far Cry 3's co-op mode was unveiled at E3 in June with a gameplay demo showing off the characters and objective-driven story separate to the single-player campaign. In the demo you'll see the four-strong squad of characters - Mikhail, Leonard, Tisha and Callum - infiltrating an enemy encampment and shooting up the place.

Like Far Cry 3's multiplayer, the key to success is teamplay and in co-op, you'll have the same buffing abilities including the health boosting battle cry to back up your teammates. However, you can still compete for kills if you like. In the video, the commentary also notes that each location is set on a unique part of Far Cry 3's island with story elements set 6 months prior to Jason Brody's story in the single-player mode.

The gameplay video also shows the range of weapon and item loadout options, with five classes to choose from for each of the four unique co-op characters. The five classes are Warrior, Rusher, Deadeye, Saboteur and Bodyguard. Check out the narrated gameplay video and two screens below to see more co-op action as the squad team up to destroy a valuable bridge, then get ready for trouble in paradise when Far Cry 3 launches on December 4th in North America, November 29th in the UK and November 30th in Europe.

I don't care how interesting and unique she tries to make it sound in her voiceover, there's nothing here we haven't seen many times before (Borderlands, Dead Island, Diablo etc etc).

Bog standard co-op bolted on to what looks like a perfectly fine single player game.

@1 what a delightfully narrow minded view you have there...

@1; as true as some of your points are, I gotta disagree on your last point.

What PS3 needs is co-op games! I feel we got the shit end of games when it comes to co-op. Yes we're starting to get more now, but I'll be happy when more games decide to bring in co-op. I'm sick of hearing about zombies co-op, that shit just needs to end.

This game is looking incredible!

@1 Hello? What the fuck are you talking about? Borderlands, Dead Island and Diablo are OPEN WORLD Games, with a possible co-op feature. Far Cry 3 is a Singleplayer and Multiplayer (PvP & co-op) game. Far Cry 3 has awesome graphics, runs on a sweet new engline and kicks way more ass than shitty Diablo. We are on a ps3 trophy website, so stop whoring about everything that is not ps3 trophy hunting

@2 very helpful comment, keep up the good work

@3 I love co-op games. Love 'em. I just get tired of seeing single player games get competitive or cooperative MP sections added on to them that almost inevitably weaken the overall package.

@3 and @4, and to continue my original point:

There's really nothing outstanding about this to me. Sure, the graphics are nice, but that's a given. When the lady doing the voiceover says things like "now when the guy picks up the crate, he's defenceless", she makes it sound like they've reinvented the wheel, when, in fact, these fetch/guard/collect quests have been done to DEATH.

You know what the MP for this game looks like to me? Syndicate (FPS). Let that sink in for a while.

But, as always, unless you drool over the latest bit of marketing nonsense for every upcoming release you can expect to get downvoted straight away.

@5 I will! Thanks! I just like to point out when someone compares something (that isn't even out yet) to something that's completely different, and uses that as a reference point. It makes no logical sense. How can adding, what appears to be at least somewhat fleshed out co-op "weaken the overall package"? If you've ready about what they have done with the MP and co-op on this game you would see how different it is from Borderlands or Dead Island.

@6 Well, if you think that this is completely different to the other co-op games on the market then good for you.

Granted, it doesn't have the randomized loot drops of Borderlands/Dead Island, but from what I saw in that video it has a LOT of similarity (stereotyped classes with different builds, same sort of missions/tasks).

Syndicate looks like the best point of comparison actually.

And as far as an addition weakening the overall game I would have thought that that was obvious. There's a finite about of dev time and energy that can go into a title. The more features that slap on, the thinner the developers get spread.

If you've read so much about it, let's see some links to the details about how amazing this is going to be.

@7 so you're saying this is exactly the same co-op to those other games? I really have to laugh when people shoot something down that isn't even out yet! How often do you polish your crystal ball? It must have a hell of a shine.

@8 What is different or unique about FC3's co-op? I don't see anything here to get excited about.

And criticizing an upcoming release based on the pre-release material is no any worse than claiming a game will be good before it's out either.

In fact, if you look at the discrepancy between pre-release material and the actual game, a lot of times it's better to be skeptical (Dead Island and Syndicate to name just two examples)

If you've got anything to back up why FC3 co-op is so great I'd love to hear it, but there's just nothing eye catching about this video except the graphics (which don't have anything to do with the co-op mode in particular)

It was a absolute delight to read you guys argue :) Thanks! On the subject there's a lot of cool new features in FC3 (in comparison to FC2)although they have been done in previously named games, it's still a different game with it's own aspects and can't be downgraded as "just a rehash". I hope they kept the mercenary feel of FC2 and added a lot of destruction possibilities and a solid, emmersive multiplayer and coop. I played FC2 to death and i hate if they screwed this series up...

I don't see how some people can say MP (whether its co-op or competitive) weakens a game that has primarily been single player. It's not like developers are removing the single player or limiting it. They are simply giving you what you normally get and then throwing in a little extra.

AND... you are not forced to play the multiplayer if you don't want to.

I personally welcome co-op on virtually any game so long as its a feasible ide and its done well enough. That way I get the general gaming experience of blasting through the single player and then I get the fun factor of just messing around and having a good time with my mates on co-op/competitive MP.

And sometimes co-op can improve a game. A good example being Dead Island. That game is barely tolerable when you play it by yourself, but when you get 3 friends in it with you it becomes an entirely different prospect.

Haha. That guy at 3:49just won't die, a few bullets, two grenades and he probably survived the bridge blowing up too. I think the co-op will be fun. Only problem will any trophies related to it as most of my friends aren't interested in this game and I'm gonna have trouble getting 4 online at the same time
