Street Fighter X Tekken Rebalancing Patch Out Now

Alongside the arrival of Street Fighter X Tekken's 12 additional DLC fighters, this week has seen Capcom bringing a new rebalancing patch to the game, which not only nerfs Ryu's Hurricane Kick, but also aims to address the balancing of some of the game's divisive gems.

"We nerfed Ryu’s Hurricane Kick a bit by reducing the hit box and reduced the number of frames of advantage it has," SFxTK Producer Tomoaki Ayano told Siliconera. "Every character is getting some kind of gameplay fix or rebalance like Rolento’s standing jab."

As far as the gems are concerned however, the biggest adjustment has been applied to the auto-block gem, which was originally designed to make Street Fighter X Tekken more accessible to new players. "In terms of gems, we’re rebalancing the auto-throw and auto-block gems. These were gems initially intended for beginners, but as it turns out they are really good for experienced players as well," Ayano explained.

"We’re going to increase the amount of [super] meter they take as well as the number of gem slots they take. In addition to that, the auto-block gem used to only drain your meter if you blocked incorrectly. Now it will drain your meter even if you block normally. Basically, you won’t have any super meter for the entire battle if you select this."

With all of this gem balancing going on, Ayano was asked if there'd ever be a special 'no gem' mode for Street Fighter X Tekken. "We think gems are an integral part of what we envisioned Street Fighter X Tekken could be. We want to balance gems to be as fair as possible for all players out there, but there are players in tournaments that play without gems," Ayano responded.

"If that’s what they want to do, they’re free to do that, but from Capcom’s perspective we want players to use gems as much as possible."

Street Fighter X Tekken's 12 character DLC is available now, with a wardrobe full of accompanying swap costumes for each of the dozen new characters. You can also download this new balancing patch now too.

Unfortunately, this may be too late... The game is so broken and a lot of folks weren't too happy about the extra content in the disk. At least Ryu is gonna nerfed because he really needed to.

Hopefully Namco will learn from this for TKxSF.

Never too late considering people are still playing/praising third strike.. they just need to get a complete version of the game, work out all of the balancing issues/bugs and support will pick up. i really enjoyed the game, but its been shelved for months due to the issues.. i'll be dusting it off and giving it another go soon.

I got this game last week and I like it. I am really terrible but there is some fun to be had. What did people hate about this game? I suppose the gems weren't really a good idea, but other than that what's so bad?

@4 jabs are insanely useful for pressure , all characters that begin with the letter R are overpowered. throws are almost useless. The characters are super unbalanced

No Namco has already stated their position on DLC. They will do it right. Or at least better than Capcom did. This game could have been great on a lot of levels. Minimal quality effort and poor marketing was the downfall for a what could have been one of the best fighting game in history. Namco will remedy this though. TTT2 looks better and better every time I see it. So I have faith that TXSF will be great!

Wahhhbulancec calling!!!! Let's Nerf Ryu hurricane kick. The game failed anyway. Tekken doesn't belong with SF and vice versa. The game is broken anyway from what I'm hearing on all the Forums.
