Dragon's Dogma Soars to 1.05 Million Units Sold

Capcom's esoteric RPG, Dragon's Dogma has been performing rather well in Japan according to the company's quarter 1 (April-June) 2012 financial report, that states "shipments have surpassed 1 million units".

Despite the game's success in Japan, Dragon's Dogma has struggled in other territories, although it's "exceeded expectations" on Capcom's native soil. This success in Japan has led to sales of 1.05 million units, that could mean the beginning for a series of sequels.

By comparison, Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City limped to 450,000 sales, but Capcom also highlighted that "aggressively" launching DLC has helped the company find its way back to profitable status. In fact, Capcom's profits climbed by 300% to £11 million with total revenue reaching £151 million.

I've only been hearing good things about this game so I'm pleased to hear it's doing well in Japan. Surprising that other places haven't taken to it in the same way.

Aggressively launching DLC? I'm definitely not liking the sound of that.

Thats good as Dragons Dogma is a really good game, i'm looking forwards to a sequel and the DLC if it adds to the single player and is big enough to be worth the price.

I saw what could make the game good, but it was ruined by the horrible framerates and overly shoddy animations, both of which will never get a fix. While it's nice to hear that a game sold good for a companys expectations, I hope they will put more thought into the games engine in the future. The fact that it was only developed for consoles and constantly ran at 25fps with constant stuttering and frame drops to below 15fps was ridiculous. That kind of thing shouldn't happen with closed-environment development.

Disappointing figures considering Capcom's initial target was 10M units sold.

Everyone just wanted that RE6 demo =P
Lucky for them there was also a fairly badass RPG in there.

I've also heard nothing but good things about the game. I want RE6 but instead of first day purchase, I'm waiting for reviews to hit...Operation Raccoon City was god awful!

It was a fun game and the "aggressive DLC" wasn't as much aggressive as annoying. I want new areas and dungeons to explore and dominate, not equipment DLC/
