Ratchet & Clank: Full Frontal Assault's Tower-Defence Twist Gets Screens

Insomniac's fun-sized Ratchet & Clank: Full Frontal Assault (known by the boring moniker of Ratchet & Clank: Q-Force in Europe) is coming to PSN as part of the duo's 10th anniversary festivities, and today sees the revelation that the game will be adding tower-defence elements.

Heading back to the classic camera, weapons and third-person gameplay of the original Ratchet & Clank games, the addition of Full Frontal Assault's new tower-defence twist sees the titular Lombax and his nickel-plated buddy protecting a base against invasion, meaning some fast-paced strategy and decision-making will be brought to the fore.

What's more, Ratchet and Clank will also be facing a new nemesis, who also has a nasty surprise in store for Captain Qwark. You'll be able to play as Ratchet, Clank and Qwark, as you take on an alien army across five stages spread across three different planets. You can play solo or with a friend in splitscreen or online co-op.

There'll be unlockables, such as upgrades, skins and other content in the game too. Ratchet & Clank: Full Frontal Assault is out in autumn 2012. Check out the first five screenshots below.

Sounds and looks good. Like the R&C games, although All 4 One was a bit of a let down after the Future Trilogy.

At first I was thinking "seriously? just a tower defense game?" but then it hit me this was a mini game. should be fun. I'll buy it just because it's R&C though.

Ooo. Tower Defense games can add a lot of re-playability on their own to a game. Nothing is quite the same as setting up a tower in a slight different configuration to finally perfect that tricky wave.

Insomniac said this will be the most replayable Ratchet and Clank on PS3, and screenshots alone already tell me its true.

Oh great. Hope this isn't required to complete the main story mode of the game. I can't stand tower defense. Never had the patience for it. :(

Play.com have this game for £39.99 and its 51st on the ps3 pre-order chart, that means people are actually buying this full retail price!
When ShopTo have it at £`5.85 and its 6th, so yeah i feel bad for the poeple who are unaware'ingly paying £40

Can't wait for it. I am big fans of Ratchet & Clank series. So happy this new R & C returns to form of original series.

Insomniac Games, Idol Minds and Sony, please take our note that you all gonna release HD Collection v2 for GLADIATOR, SIZE MATTERS AND SECRET AGENT CLANK!!!

Lastly please bring trophies patch for Tools of Destruction and DLC that came just after Tools of Destruction released. :):)

PLEASE!!

Ewww... I hope it doesn't end up like Brutal Legend or AC: Revelations. You can't just inject a certain genre into another all willy nilly and expect it to work.

And, I have to say my faith is shaken a bit after A4O. It was decent, but not nearly as good as previous games from the Future trilogy.

Either way, I'll probably pick this up when its on sale, but R&C HD Collection is a day one buy... they just don't make 'em like that anymore - R&C titles, and games in general.

#10 Play.com is not my favourite or using for preorder things but play.com alway change prices when real price is release. If anyone preorder games or dvd or whatsoever items in there and play.com alway emails and let them know that full price is and will not charge them for pay unreal price when they preorder before full price is release. Also they will charge them to pay abit low then full price release too if they preorder way before it or even stick to it's full price not unreal price. Just like other online order websites. :)

@ 17 good hopefully with Trophies as well.

Ratchet & Clank 1, 2 & 3 are excellent platform games as are the others, as for A4O i like it but i didn't really play online. I think thats where A4O failed by adding online co op, they should stick with single player. A4O has the best graphics & environments, i like the look of the new one and i'll be picking it day one.

@18 i didn't play online either because the person i was playing kept making a fool out of a seasoned player of the series (me) while on voice chat he said he was 10! seriously a 10 year old n00b to the series and making a fool out of a vet such as me! lame! i beat the final boss of every game with just melee weapons and the wrench INCLUDING the main parts of the A4O final boss!

I am still not so keen on the new, more cartoony style look, but that is just a small problem, i am sure that i will get this on release day

Really hope this will be a full game, and not a short one like "Quest for Booty".

@18 Well R&C games are family games, and for you to beat the final Boss with just your wrench you are a true vet, seriously i bet your glad the game hasn't got difficulty levels.

What i'm saying is the online co op messes up the game if you want to play on your own with dum AI etc, A4O is ment to be played online. Treyarch
