God of War Movie Script Being Tackled By Saw Writers

God of War: Ascension

It looks as though Universal is putting a lot behind its movie adaptation of God of War, bringing in the screenwriting duo behind four of the Saw movies to spill ink on the initial draft of the God of War movie script written by David Self, who also worked on the screenplay for Road to Perdition and is serving as Executive Producer on the film.

Writers Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan wrote Saw IV, Saw V, Saw VI and Saw 3D together, so should no doubt have no problem bringing the brutality and gore to the celluloid Kratos. The movie will presumably cover the story from the first game in which Kratos has to face off against a variety of mythical monsters before defeating Ares.

Expect masses of CGI for the Hydra, Medusa and other battles, including the showdown with Ares himself when the God of War movie launches. It's not known when the movie will hit multiplexes, but it'll be a good few years yet with the script still being finalised. Meanwhile, God of War: Ascension will be launching on March 12th, 2013.

	Oh no! I don't know how I feel about this. Video game movies normally don't do well. GOW is too epic to succumb to bombed film.

	Movies based out of video games? Didn't they learned yet? I don't see how it came to mind of Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan to make this movie.

	At least they should try and get David Jaffe to come in and write. I'm with #4...CGI all the way. I can't see a guy that can play Kratos. Just don't want them to make it anything like "The Clash/Wrath of the Titans"!

	I'm buying it anyway. Only thing that will actually suck is if the multiplayer has trophies making this the first GoW to be online.

	Somehow I want Uwe Boll to make this movie. At least then everybody knows what it'll be like :P All I know the SAW franchise for is to bring another sequel before I even heard of the latest movie, so I guess they weren't very noticeable.

	Don't know what to say here. My first thought is PLEASE DON'T! Mainly with these 2 guys writing the scripts. Those SAW movies were boring. I agree with the CGI idea, since I don't foresee anybody playing as Kratos.

	Saw 1 and 2 is good but from 3 to final series are craps. I hope God of War movie turn out to be good. I don't care about movie. I cannot wait for God of War: Ascension, preorder it!!

	@7 I have to applaud you for a comment that went right over everyone's head. @12 You idiot, he was ripping on #6 for talking about the game which had nothing to do with this article apart from a release date. I think a few people need to start learning to read these articles and not just look at the pictures and videos. Jeez.... Back on topic, be prepared for God of War: The Movie 6 coming to cinema near you in 2014.

	Why do they even try? As long as screenwriters and directors seem to completely lack what it takes to recreate the spirit of a game and convert it into a movie, those movies WILL SUCK!
