Battlefield 3: Armored Kill DLC To Boast the Biggest Map in BF History

If anything's going to help persuade us to part with $49.99 for a Battlefield 3 Premium subscription, the forthcoming Battlefield 3: Armored Kill DLC could well be it. Promising to "up the ante for vehicular mayhem", the pack will boast a new Tank Superiority mode, which we're assuming means massive tank battles. Oh yes.

As well as offering new vehicles - including new tanks, ATVs and mobile artillery - Armored Kill will also include the largest ever map in Battlefield history, which means large-scale warfare will be getting even larger. Armored Kill will add four new maps in total, designed for "all-out vehicle warfare" and all six game modes will be supported across all maps.

Here's the lowdown from the official Battlefield 3 site:

  • All-out vehicle warfare on four new maps
  • Includes the biggest map in Battlefield history
  • New vehicles, including tanks, ATVs, and mobile artillery
  • Bring back five new vehicle unlocks to the base game
  • Earn 20+ unlocks for the new vechicles in Armored Kill
  • New Tank Superiority game mode
  • All maps playable with all six game modes

Battlefield 3: Armored Kill will be coming in September, as the third of five expansions in the pipeline for DICE's FPS. Back to Karkand and Close Quarters are available now, and Aftermath and Endgame will be out in December 2012 and March 2013 respectively. You can grab all of the DLC with a Battlefield 3 Premium membership for $49.99/£39.99/€49.99/AU$79.95.

I'll just buy the DLC individually. I already made the mistake of paying for my COD Elite subscription, I won't make that kind of mistake again.

@1 You are looking at two completely different things. COD has a subscription while Battlefield is a one time fee that discounts the DLC quite a bit. So even without all the other bonus perks, the premium is worth it.

"Biggest Map in BF History" the only downside to that is that ps3 can support up to 24 players only so it'll be a ghost town :/

Dunno, huge maps are all well and good... except when your vehicle gets trashed and you're stuck in the middle of nowhere with a huge slog to get back to another vehicle.

@1, silverwolf40 is correct. You are only costing yourself more money by paying for the DLC individually. Doesn't make any sense.

Sweet now I can spend hours on a huge empty battlefield looking for 12 people. So glad I sold this boring game. Call me when you can actually support enough players to call this a battlefield.

@6 why is a bad thing to have variety for a game? If you don't like big maps or vehicle mode then don't play it. They have plenty of other maps and game modes.

Don't understand why anyone would complain about variety. It's a good thing. 6 would be the same guy complaining because they only have a few modes/maps. Never win with some people. Sad....

@8 I said I don't like huge maps when they aren't properly supported like in the PC version. But some how you interpret that as not liking variety. I don't understand how someone can so poorly misinterpret something that is so clear. Sad....

@9 I read nothing about PC in your original post. You can't comprehend your own writings. Very sad....

"Sweet now I can spend hours on a huge empty battlefield looking for 12 people. So glad I sold this boring game. Call me when you can actually support enough players to call this a battlefield. "

If that's the case go play it on PC and quit trolling a PS3 dedicated site.

@10 But you read that I don't like variety. I said quote "Call me when you can actually support enough players to call this a battlefield. "

This is where I was referring to the PC version of the game as it does support enough players. But somehow you read not liking variety out of it.

Try to follow the bouncing ball stupid.

@2 the thing is though when sales slow down most games release bundles or have a discount week to get some people back into the game. I wouldn't be surprised if BF do it down the line as well.

I love the sound of a bigger map but i have to agree with others, the player limit will kill it for me. That's the one thing with every shooter that makes me jealous of PC players. BF & COD with higher player limits would both make them more enjoyable for me personally. It was one of the reasons i enjoyed resistance 1 & 2 multiplayer back in the day when the games were packed.

@Chum at least you didn't like your own post this time, least your graduated to forum level 2.

I guess I can read into the fact you " sold the boring game " in your before mentioned post that it's only boring because its not on your prefered PC format. I see. Even though I have to assume your entire posts because you didn't write the original correctly and have to make up stuff as you go, nor can you comprehend your own post writings. You are very difficult to understand my friend. But hey least your now level 2 forum poster. Maybe by the end of the day you will have enough experience to make to level 3.

Another thing no one is going to call you when it supports enough players. That's rediculous.

Can't wait for Tank Superiority. If there is anything I can do in Battlefield 3, its plow the enemy with a Tank.

@16 "Another thing no one is going to call you when it supports enough players. That's ridiculous."

I wouldn't expect a genetic reject such as yourself to understand a simple concept known as sarcasm.

"Even though I have to assume your entire posts"

That's all you have done ass make assumptions because you are too stupid to understand a simple paragraph. The words get scrambled in that retard brain of yours and when your fingers try to type what you are interpreting it comes out as total nonsense.

I am thinking about getting Battlefield 3 Premium. To anybody who has it: Is it worth it? I was hoping Premium Services would continue over into Medal of Honor: Warfighter.

@19: If nothing else, Premium is a bundle pack that provides 5 DLC packs (planned at $15, adding to $65) at a discount. The fact that it provides new weapon camos, meta challenges, additional Battlelog features and an in-game marker for premium players depends on how invested you are in Battlefield status and goings-on. I find it worthwhile because it lets me see more tidbits throughout the game that I would otherwise miss, but they are almost entirely cosmetic. In no way is a Premium player better than a core-game player.

They better increase the number of players then. Some maps feel barren already! The last thing we need is the biggest map in BF history. It's not fun to run around (or even drive for that matter) seeing 1 other person every few minutes.

Biggest map in BF History?

Firstly, that statement does not say WHAT PLATFORM. They're probably boasting for the PC platform.

Secondly, It won't be. Kubra Dam and Zatar Wetlands (both BF2) were so absolutely colossal that even with 64 players, it was normal to go for 3-4 minutes without seeing anybody but the air vehicles dogfighting.

I like the idea but I honestly don´t see it working out so great on the PS3, with 24 people. I think it would´ve been better if they had made it for 32 players at least, doesn´t matter if the graphics got reduced, I think this kind of game deserves better gameplay and more action rather than quasi ghost-towns with "good graphics" (we didn't even get the graphics at their 100% on console). I honestly wouldn't mind an even lower graphics setting, if it's even necessary, in exchange for 8 more players. (and I'm sure I'm not the only one...)

Imagine, 12 players per team distributed in vehicles only. Just with 1 attack heli and the 2 jets fully occupied you already have 1/3rd of the team busy (and as usual, busy with the 1/3rd of the other team using their air vehicles as well), leaving 8 for the other vehicles (or more like, turning the match from 12v12 into an 8v8 battle) let's say 2 tanks and 1 IFV, now instead of having 8 ground units now we'll have just 3; 4 at most if we still wanted to keep the vehicles alive for a decent amount of time(1 driver, 1 engineer). Now distribute those 3 or 4 units in a super huge map with 5-7 flags, we'll get a wasteland. We'll only know the position of the other team when we lose a flag, and by the time we get there they'll be gone already on to the next one and we'll be unable to follow because we're caping the flag we've just lost, etc. At least for me, mixed vehicles don't sound that fun being just 12v12.

Now, the tank superiority mode looks more promising than a mixed vehicle match, at least the 12 players will be in the ground. Imagine 1 occupant per tank, the horizon will look pretty badass with a line of 12 tanks pointing at 12 other on the other side lol, only it can be a little suicidal with no support of an engineer right? :P but lets say 6v6 tanks, 2 occupants per tank, sounds like a lot more fun, maybe with just 3 flags and medium maps.

Who knows, this is just my point of view as of now and maybe I'll change my mind completely when I get it and end up loving it :) .... or hating it after hours of boredom...

I think a lot are missing the point. Its a VEHICLE map that's larger, hence, VEHICLE COMBAT. If you are running around on foot, sure, it'll be a ghost town...

I read in the interview somewhere that the new maps will be accommodated to 24player-games such as they did with maps like Operation Firestorm and Caspian Border (less points to capture, less vehicles to keep things balanced).
