Max Payne 3's Multiplayer Cheater Pool is Now Open

Rockstar Games has activated the cheater pool in Max Payne 3 multiplayer, meaning that from today anyone who's been caught using hacked saves, modded games or any other untoward techniques in the game, will now be quarantined in a dedicated online area "confined to wallow with other unscrupulous reprobates".

You can find out exactly how the cheater pool works by consulting the corresponding support article here. If you'd like to report potential cheating ne'er do wells meanwhile, you can send an email to Rockstar Games at maxpayne3.banhammer@rockstargames.com including the following details:

  •  Platform (PC, PS3 or Xbox 360)
  •  Cheater’s Gamertag / ID
  •  Description of the violation
  •  If possible, please include concrete evidence, such as a video or a screenshot

Finally, if you feel like you've been placed in the cheater pool by accident or unfairly, you can plead your case to Rockstar at the same email address provided above, including your Social Club nickname, Gamertag or PSN ID with an explanation why you think you shouldn't be included in the pool.

Nice to to see they actually support their game, unlike COD.

I think this is a good idea and every online game should have some sort of way to deal with cheaters, and if they do get out of the cheater pool and cheat again they get a permanent ban from Multiplayer and other online features which they should do.

Never understood cheating? You mean you don't know about all the chicks that run for the dudes at the top of the leaderboar?

Wait, that's not true. I don't get cheating either.

boosting trophies isn't cheating, it's making quick work of nonsensical bs mp trophies that shouldn't exist in the first place. down with mp!

Thumbs up to #6. Hate MP trophies. Actually passed on this game due to the MP requirements. May pick it up at a later date, but I miss the day of a good, hard SP game.

Out of curiosity, I have often wondered if those accused of cheating aren't just good players? Apart from hacked games/saves, does taking advantage of a glitch make you a cheater?

I feel sorry for people who pass on games because of trophy requirements.

@6 Boosting MP trophies is technically cheating as you are earning stats, kills, challenges, etc that you did not do legitimately. Devs are within their rights to take actions against cheaters. Plus, if the trophies are "nonsensical," then why not...oh, I don't know...not bother with them?

Anyways, I think this is an interesting take on punishing cheaters. Instead of banning them and the banned player just make a new account and come back for round two, they let the cheaters continue playing but only with everyone else who cheated. It lets the honest people play a good game and lets the cheaters still play the game. It's passive-aggressive discipline.

@12
Not 1000 hours unless you do indeed suck, I spent 2 months grinding gta4's mp, that aint 100 hours because I worked during the days.

1000 hours belong to bf3's absolute max rank, saw a few colonel 100's at 500 hours :P

The mp trophies are easy enough, its the sp that turned me off.

ON topic:I like tis idea, all games deserve something like this.

@12 Rockstar max rank trophies really aren't that hard any more. They run so many double and triple XP weekends that getting to top level is usually a piece of cake if you're willing to just wait a little while. They realised people can't be bothered after GTA IV's monstrous Level 10 trophy, after a while they just implemented permanent double XP.
