You'd be forgiven for thinking that were Angry Birds to come to PlayStation 3, it'd be as a downloadable title on the PlayStation Network, but apparently that won't be the case, as developer Rovio and publisher Activision are bringing Angry Birds Trilogy to PS3 as an "ultimate collector's edition" compendium on a disc.

"Built from the ground up" for HDTVs, according to Rovio's Executive VP of Games, Petri Järvilehto, Angry Birds Trilogy will bring together the original Angry Birds, Angry Birds Seasons and Angry Birds Rio, with individual leaderboards for each level. No mention has yet been made of the free level packs brought to the iOS and Android releases.

"You can think of the game as the ultimate collector’s edition," Järvilehto stated. "There are new cinematics, extras and other entertaining content. In addition all of the existing material has been uprezzed and re-treated for the high-resolution and big screen."

That's not all though. "The backgrounds have been animated, we've added lighting modes, reactive backgrounds, the list goes on and on," Järvilehto added. "We believe that there are a lot of people on the consoles who appreciate a great casual game play experience. This is a game that resonates across a wide audience on many platforms."

Angry Birds Trilogy will be coming to PlayStation 3 this holiday, complete with PS Move support and HD visuals.
