SEGA Europe has today declared that as part of its ongoing restructure, several offices across Europe are set to face closure, as the company shifts business to focus upon digital content and its key IPs for packaged games at retail, such as Sonic, Aliens, Total War et al. Offices in France, Germany, Spain, Australia and Benelux will all be shut down.

To assist with distribution across Germany, Austria, France, Spain and Switzerland, SEGA has appointed Koch Media, while Level03 Distribution and 5 Star Games helping distribute SEGA products for Benelux and Australia from July 1st onwards. All other territories will remain unaffected by the restructure and run through the same channels as before, managed by SEGA Europe's offices in London.

“SEGA is entering a new and exciting phase that will position the company as a content led organisation maximising sales with strong and balanced IP such as Sonic the Hedgehog, Total War, Football Manager and the Aliens franchise”, stated SEGA Europe COO, Jurgen Post. “The company will benefit from a clear focus and realigned strategy for our digital business and packaged goods and we are confident that this will lead to a successful future.”

Really bad timing, what with new titles by them coming out. Looks like Platinum might need to look into a new publisher for future titles.

What they should do is sack all the idiots that have driven SEGA to what it is today, jobs are going and its the people at the top that are doing it.

Its ironic they leave the console making because of money issues and now they cant even survive the software division because of poor management I wonder if it's the same idiots from that era which is causing them to restructure now.

Maybe if they'd stop screwing around with Max Anarchy and just give us some kind of an idea what, if any, of their international plans are for PSO2 they'd have more money coming in.
