Sonic Adventure 2 Finally Coming to PSN (Probably)

Looks like classic Dreamcast platformer Sonic Adventure 2 is heading to PSN.

Long-rumoured and even longer-awaited, Sonic Adventure 2 was listed on the Xbox Live Marketplace (it has since been taken down) for a release on October 3rd 2012, with the original’s two-player racing, shooting and treasure-hunting levels arriving intact. What's this got to do with PSN? Well, as well as being almost certain to come to the service too, one of the images showed PlayStation button prompts.

Here’s the blurb from the site:

In the fight between heroes and villains, will you choose to save the world or conquer it? The hunt for the Chaos Emeralds is on and battle lines have been drawn between Hero and Dark. Experience two unique adventures featuring both long-time heroes and new and returning villains as they battle for the fate of the world! Sonic Adventure 2 makes its return on Xbox LIVE Arcade with a full cast of playable heroes and villains, exciting two-player competitive modes, Chao Gardens, and more than 30 action-packed stages, all remastered in HD!

No official confirmation on any of this has yet been made, but we're willing to bet out favourite Sonic boxer shorts on it. We’ll bring an official announcement as and when it comes.

[Thanks, Taylor]

Awesome! I really hope this gets the full trophy list treatment with a platinum. It certainly has enough content to justify one!

@1: Knuckles Chaotix. Also, nobody cares if you were first.

@2: No it doesn't. It has roughly the same amount of content as Sonic Adventure 1. I'd say less when you factor in that most of the Sonic stages are just Sonic mindlessly glued to a grind rail so you don't have to push any buttons or play in any way whatsoever.

Besides, why would they pass up another opportunity to scam their customers like they did with Sonic Adventure 1's DX content? Buy Sonic Adventure 2 for $15 or whatever and get 12 trophies, then pay another $5 for the Battle content and get 3 more trophies, wow! Thanks SEGA, the only way that awesome deal could be any better is if you included some free lube that we can use before you ram it in our asses. Old ass games and they still feel the need to cut content and sell it as DLC, what a joke.

@4 Sonic 2 Adventures is easily one of the best games I have ever played. I still have my copy on the Dreamcast in mint condition. Needless to say this is the best Sonic EVER!! Hands down!

Sonic Adventure 2 was one of the games that convinced me to get a Dreamcast, and I loved it. This is going to be a Day 1 purchase for me.

I freaking love this game. My favorite part though was when you were on the ark, my buddy and I would always jump off the rails at the very top and catch the very bottom one and grind away

@5 #7 is correct. The best sonic game is hands down Sonic CD, with its only competition being Sonic 3 + Knuckles.

But Sonic Adventure 2 is by far the best 3D Sonic Game of all time. Its not exactly tough competition, but its still a victory. I loved SA2 on my Dreamcast (so much so that I still have it hooked up to my bedroom TV) and would willingly buy this immediately regardless of trophies or cut content from the Gamecube re-release.

@5 and 7 Nah I disagree. Sonic CD was nice but I don't think it was better than Sonic Adv. 2. I guess its open to debate. Kind of like how before Zelda Skyward Sword came out, the best Zelda game was between "Ocarina Of Time" and "Majora's Mask". Personally it was Ocarina Of Time for me.

Actually, Ocarina of Time and A Link to the Past are considered the best Zelda games. Majora's Mask ranks up there, and it's my favorite, but it's definitely not the best.

The difficult thing about the best Sonic game are the styles. If you're like me and like the classic, side-scroller Sonic game style, CD is hands down the best. But if you're like my younger brother and like the modern, 3D, open path style, then it has to be Adventure 2.

@3 Sega is a failing company, they can't get enough attention with even Sonic anymore. I love Sega though... WAY more than Capcom hahaha.. Megaman was the only Capcom anything that I enjoyed (thoroughly).

I WANT TO SEE A REMASTERED VERSION OF SONIC HEROES >_______

Is it bad that I would almost buy this just to hear the music again alone?

@1 Knuckles chaotix, and if you played it you'd understand why he hasn't gotten another game of his own.

This is gonna be very exciting! I can't wait to buy this, and since it falls under one of my "Must 100% all games in this series" category, I will get all trophies in it. Hopefully they won't be to difficult. *worried laughter*

Now if we could see a JSRF remake on PSN, I will be completely satisfied with SEGA for the year!!!

You KNOW they're gonna have "Get S rank in all acts of all levels" and "Collect All Emblems" trophies.

I can't wait to speed through the two campaigns and simply grind stage replays over and over just to take care of the 18 chaos I'm going to have.

@21

Actually it's A ranks, Sonic Adventure 2 was the first to start using ranks but S ranks weren't the standard yet. While I should be happy about this considering my username, I'd rather this not happen because I'd be obligated to get this, but I hate Knuckles levels with a passion, especially the ones with those stupid creepy ass ghosts which would randomly pop out of nowhere simply for hitting an enemy, breaking a box or just running near something. Sure this was like 6 years ago but those sharp teeth creeped me the fuck out back then.
