The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

Skyrim’s Dawnguard Campaign Around 10 to 20 Hours Long

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim’s upcoming add-on, Dawnguard, is around the same length as a faction quest line from the main game, reckons Bethesda. It’s also longer than anything the studio created for Fallout 3.

“It’ll take between 10 and 20 hours to beat,” said lead artist Matt Carofano. “It’s about as long as a faction line.”

Although the expansion is not the biggest Bethesda has ever made, it’s still rather chunky. “Dawnguard will be significantly bigger than any Fallout DLC,” Carofano said. “We wanted to do something more in depth than that. It’s not as big as Shivering Isles, but there’s still a lot of content there.”

Details on Dawnguard’s content were revealed via beta testers recently. You can find out all the info through here. The DLC itself is out later next month, following an Xbox 360 exclusivity period.

Now this is what DLC should be, not some pre installed thing in a game. Something that is actually a decent length. i dont own skyrim but most people that do will probably get this Id say. Apparently its a great game.

Almost certainly will hve trophies probably same as PSN titles - similar to Dragon Age Origins expansion I should imagine.

This puts to shame other games though which last 5 hours.

And this is just DLC :)

@1,3 Yes I agree with you both. For $20 this is gonna be 100% well worth it. I am even gonna buy back skyrim just for this, probably will keep it this time around lol.

For that amount of hours of gameplay they could release it as a standalone expansion. They could charge the price of a full game and it would still be worth more than a lot of games these days

That's a real DLC, not those 1~2 hours DLC we get like Mass Effect 2: Arrival's or Castlevania: Lords of Shadow's Chapters.

I was about to say the same thing. This could definitely be sold in stores as an expansion (like Dragon Age did).

From Capcom's costumes to EA's 'unlock every car early' and now this massive expansion, DLC has evolved in such an interesting way this generation.

Bear in mind there is meant to be another piece of DLC coming for Skyrim.

Maybe after that there will be a complete set. Some mad value for money Skyrim is - it really is.

@9 these expansions way of DLC have been around for a while. Like the old Blizzard expansions for Diablo/Starcraft, to oblivion etc.

It's just companies like EA and especially Capcom (DLC rapers) give DLC a bad name.

Capcom though they are just dirty with EA close behind. There's making money and there's taking the piss.

Look at Valve free DLC..

Oh, definitely. I was referring to console DLC - expansions of this magnitude are not that common for PS3 or 360. Quite impressive and exciting.

Although bear in mind 360 owners get it 30 days before ps3/pc users so your looking at late august / early september for ps3.

Think I may wait for at least 2 DLC's to come out as I am starting again it'll give me reason to enjoy it more I've platted the game already but when I do start again hopefully the 2 large DLCs will be out and some fixes if there are any bugs from the DLC.

Aww shame, was hoping for an actual expansion pack like Shivering Isles, still looking forward to Dawnguard but was hoping it was gonna last more than 2 days.
