Hollywood Considering Splinter Cell Movie

A Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell movie is being touted around Hollywood, according to reports.

Apparently, Warner Bros. was once considering the option to turn the stealth-based series into a movie, but now Paramount pictures are interested.

Deadline New York writes, “I’ve heard that in recent weeks, Warner Bros had engaged in talks, but now, the conversation is with Paramount Pictures, which is the frontrunner to land the project.

“The studio would not comment other than to say there is no deal."

According to the report, Ubisoft are keen to keep a degree of creative control over the project, while Paramount have a history of Tom Clancy movies. They’re currently making a reboot of the Jack Ryan franchise (The Hunt for Red October, Patriot Games), with Chris Pine (Star Trek's Kirk) as the lead and Kenneth Branagh (Thor) on directorial duties.

Would you like to see a Splinter Cell movie? And if so, who would you pick for the lead role?

[Thanks, Clint]

They're rebooting Jack Ryan? Guess the last reboot (with Ben Affleck) didn't go so well then... Should've stuck with Harrison Ford.

@1:

Agreed.

I severely doubt a Splinter Cell movie will work and will just be another addition on the landscape of failed adaptations.

Honestly I think Hollywood should look at a lot video games to be turned into movies. I personally would love to see this, but probably the biggest one I want to see as a movie is a ps one classic parasite eve.

Another bomb on the way.......when will hollywood ever learn, they can't make good adaptions, C'mon hollywood make good movie's instead of sequel's no one care's about, reboots that 7 out of 10 time's suck, and video game adaptions that generally suck, make something in each genre of movies that will actually be Original.

If anyone remembers playing Chaos Theory, the final option on the main menu was a teaser trailer for the Splinter Cell movie... that game came out in January 2005. Funny they're still trying to do it 7.5 years later.

For anyone who has seen Team America: Maaaatt Daammmmoooonn. Maaaaaattt Dammmmoooon.

Was never a fan of Splinter Cell but I'm pretty sure hollywood would ruin it for those that are. They don't care about what fans think, they care about what makes a film pull in the punters and make big monies.

If I want Splinter Cell, I play Splinter Cell instead of sitting in the dark and staring at a "I try to be Splinter Cell" for two hours.

Jason Statham would be amazing, Vin Diesel would be pretty good too. Whatever they do, I really wish they would just have Michael Ironside do the voice, and then have another actor play the role. He is the only Sam Fisher I know.
