Being as old as I am, I'm a bit of an id fanboy. But this is pointless money grabbing at it's finest. Stop fucking around and give me Doom 4 already. this game was average at best when it came out and unless they ported it to the idtech5 engine, you aint making it look that good. for shame Bethesda. I expect better from you AND id

| This was a shock, but by far one of the best announcements for me all year, E3 is reserved first place. But this, this is fantastic. D3, on PS3, with trophies, and good old Doom 1 and Doom 2 as well? Oh boy..I hope there's trophies for those as well! |

| Um...okay. I guess Bethesda is really hard up on their acquisition of iD software. Just re-release older titles and call it a day. Doom 3 sucked, though, so I'll pass. |

| I bought Doom 3 for my PC recently and wasn't gripped but that's mainly because I'm not too keen on playing games on my PC, I'd rather play on my PS3 if I can so I'll get this, especially if it includes Doom and Doom 2 as well. |

| I can't wait. I played DOOM 3 on PC on release but the whole switching from flashlight to gun was really annoying. Glad they fixed this. DOOM 3 is a good scary game you can tell Dead Space got a lot of influence from it. |

Fantastic, Doom 3 was the first shooter I played and I loved it. In those days Carmack was a coding god and could solve ANY problem (instead of bitching about platform architecture like he did with Rage). Not usually sentimental as most re-releases never live up to how they FELT when you first played them (they can be carbon copies but never compare with the rose-tinted view), but the trophy whore in me is making this a definite YES! Wonder if it'll have a platinum?!?! |

How sweet is this!!! Doom 3 was the sole reason I upgraded my PC some years ago as I hate playing on PC and I've been aching to play it as I finished co-oping through the whole PS1 Doom (which is Doom 1 & 2 bundled) & Final Doom, linking up 2 ps1's here at home, and we were cursing that we didn't have Doom 3 for PS to continue the series. The original Doom games came out when I was a kid, & something about them makes them last forever for me, been through all 3 more than 40 times each, downloaded and played all modded versions I could get my hands on back in the day, even made some maps & skins of my own I'll get this just to have Doom 3 on a decent platform, it'll be exciting to see wether they polish the originals up, HD maybe? So far the Atari Jaguar version is the slickest looking version I got, and is the biggest reason for me still holding onto that failed console :D |

Doom 3 was the Quake 4 of last gen. That means it was crap. They should just release the early titles (Doom, Doom 2, Wolf3d, etc.) as PSP/Vita Minis or something and be done with it. Seriously, I'm curious: does anyone really think id has put out a good game since the Quake II days? |

| Umm, 'bout the flashlight thing, that's actually the part I loved the most about Doom 3 lol, I never downloaded the patch, the switching gun/light thing was what kept me on edge, sweating my palms and jumping at every sound, happy times, hope they'll leave an option on which way to play it on the PS3 |

"You'll also have an armour-mounted flashlight too, meaning you can light up those oppressive dark corridors and keep your hands free for blasting hellspawn." Wait, so the tension of swapping from that is now redundant just to make the game easier now? The checkpoint system dumbed the game down as it is...if anything I suspect that once I hold my guts in this will be easier than the original by a mile! |

A compilation of the best first person shooter ever? Yes! Yes! While Doom3 is ok, classic Doom is where it is at. It says it contains Doom and DoomII, but will it also contain Master Levels, Final Doom and No Rest for the Living too? |

Is it bad that I'm more hyped about getting to play Doom 1 and 2 on my PS3 than the main point of this package? I enjoyed D3, but the original games are such a great mememory from my childhood. Finished them sooo many times. But yeah, very unexpected and I will most likely pick this up at some point. I must say though, I agree with #14. I hope there's an option to keep the having to flip back and forth with the flashlight, it's all about the tension that creates! Why would you want to make it easier and less scary? |

@1: I agree with the "stop fucking around and give me Doom 4" bit. Rage was a disappointment. I've already played Doom 1, 2, and 3 more times than I can count. I've played them all so many times that this news doesn't interest me in the slightest. Please id, just stop fucking around with the old games for a little bit so we can have Doom 4. Anyway, I'm off to go slap Richard now. I didn't hear anything about Doom 2 Master Levels or Final Doom in this article, so definitive Doom box my ass. :p |

#39 Heh I remember people going insane mad over the duct tape mod. I for one welcome this. I consider that to have been a dumb idea from the original game, having to switch from flashlight to your weapon was plain stupid. |

As far as Pt lists are concerned, Doom 3 would be the only one stern enough to support one. Doom 1 played more like Wolfenstein 3D while Doom 2 was a full linear version of Doom 1, but with little to add except for a new weapon, some new enemies, and George Romero's head for a boss. If luck serves us right, Final Doom was and will be Episode 4 of Doom 1. I cant say I'd be glad to see it with the rest. It was more like torture in a box than an expansion box. Too many enemies, not enough breathing space. Anyway, now that Commander Keen's corpse will show up all over the Internet again, who's rooting for a PSN collection of the kid? |
