Take-Two Financials: Max Payne Ships 3m, NBA 2K13 Release Date Confirmed

Last night's Take-Two financial report has thrown up a few interesting titbits of news. In addition to the XCOM FPS delay noted yesterday, the publisher has also revealed healthy sales for Max Payne 3 and a firm release date for NBA 2K14.

According to the report, Max Payne 3 shipped a whopping 3 million copies during launch on consoles. While not necessarily a reflection of sales, that’s a healthy number and good news for a company that recorded a $107.7 loss for FY 2012.

“Fiscal 2013 kicked off with the successful launch of Max Payne 3,” said CEO and chairman Strauss Zelnick, “which received outstanding reviews and promises to be another hit for Rockstar Games.

“We have a fantastic lineup of upcoming releases for the balance of the year and the strongest development pipeline in the company’s history. ”

Take-Two will be hoping that one of those titles is NBA 2K13. The report also put a firm date on the licensed basketball sim. It’s confirmed for October 2nd, 2012.

	Sales wont last. I'm seeing record #'s of tradeins towards Ghost Recon and Sniper Elite. Not to mention craigslist is ablaze with people selling it cheap/used.

	hope they sell few millions more, so i can get it at $30 soon, cant wait to play this so how long will to take for a price drop PS : Will buy it if it takes too long :p

	@4 how are we supposed to know dude? Anyway I think its more likely to work the other way around. If it doesn't sell then you'll get a quicker price drop.

	Lmao @2 why do I need to lie to a complete stranger? If you live in America go to GameStop s website, go to a used copy of Max Payne and see how many stores within a 25 mile radius have it up for sale used. The store that is 1.1 miles away from my house had 7 used copies yesterday when I went to pick it up not to mention almost every store within that 25 mile radius had "Low stock" on used copies.

	Also I said Ghost Recon because I asked the GS people why so many got traded in and they all said towards Ghost Recon/Dragons Dogma and 3 out of the 7 people I contacted on craigslist said they traded it towards Sniper Elite. I'm usually not cheap when it comes to games but when I know without a doubt that Rockstar is going to come out with a "Complete Edition" or GOTY I want to get a copy cheap now so I can buy that version new later.

	@6 I think that might depend on where you live like here games that don't sell so well might be at full price even after two years where as games that do sell well get price drops quicker

	Did anyone else noticke that this article mentions NBZ2k14 and 2k13. I'm guessing its a proofing error :)
