007 Legends Trailer Confirms Moonraker Level, Release Date

Here’s an interesting idea. Sony has released the new trailer for the latest Bond film, Skyfall, alongside one for the latest game, 007 Legends. And while the idea may have given more exposure to 007 Legends than it may have otherwise got, we can’t help but think it was a misstep.

Why? Because while Skyfall exudes character, ideas and excitement, 007 Legends just looks cheap. Slap them both together and the game’s lack of style is only thrown into sharp relief. It’s a shame, as we’d go giddy for a decent Bond title. Based on this showing, however, we may have to wait a while for that to happen. We hope we’re wrong.

007 Legends takes elements from six separate Bond movies and ties them together with one overarching narrative. This latest trailer shows off a Moonraker-inspired level, complete with a bit of electrifying Jaws action. It also carries a North American release date for the game: October 16th, which presumably means a 19th October release date in Europe.

  • Looks good enough to me. Hope they include an option to play as any bond you want. I dislike James Blonde so very much. At least give us the option of a re-skin.
  • I havent seen those yellow jumpsuits since Goldeneye 64 LOL Both the game and the film actually looks pretty good, I just hope there isnt an online to it because Goldeneye Reloaded is dead online which is a damn shame as it is pretty good IF you can get a match
  • You guys are kidding aren't you?? Surely you are only saying that game looks good out of love for bond and because you want it to look good. To me it looked like a really good playstation 1 game. On the skyfall trailer. Awesome, lets be more casino royale and less quantum of solace. Martini shaken not stirred.
  • To be honest, I'd rather just play GoldeneEye on the N64...
  • @4 With reference to 007 Legends, I mean. Skyfall looks like it could be great!
  • @3 em no, I quite enjoyed the campaign of Goldeneye Reloaded for what it was I'll admit I was annoyed it wasn't like the N64 version but if you don't dwell on the N64 version and take it as a separate game with zero ties to its past it wasn't that bad a game so I can see this being on the same par, possibly improved, I wouldn't jump to being as harsh as saying its a PS1 game, considering this is only one mission in the game its hard to say which way it will go. As for Skyfall I wouldn't mind if its more casino royale or quantum of solace however one thing that Im not too impressed with and Im sure you will agree with this, 'Martini shaken not stirred' will not be on the menu apparently he will be swigging Heineken beer because funding for the film came from Heineken beer.
  • Looking forward to the movie, the game... eh. Those Cut scenes they used really did nothing to showcase the game, the animations looked awfully outdated. Still, story might be enjoyable if they stick to the films and at least make it worth renting.
  • Movie looks good, game looks like crap.
  • More Activision crap. Pass
  • As much as I like James Bond and its licensed games, this feels like another shameless cash-in on the legacy of GoldenEye 64.
  • massive Bond fan i will give this a shot it deserves that at the very least alot of people hated Goldeneye Reloaded but i thought it was alright and the online is fun to play its not the same as the classic Goldeneye on the N64 but i still enjoyed it. Renting it first and if i like it like most Bond games i shall buy it cant wait for the movie should be awesome not long left to go October
  • Holy fucking shit. Skyfall's trailer was amazing. I'm so glad things got worked out and production started again, because it looks like Skyfall is set up to be another amazing Bond film. Say what you want about Daniel Craig, but Casino Royale was easily one of the top 3 best Bond films, and I'm expecting a spectacular performance with Skyfall. ...Oh, 007 Legends? No, that trailer was crap. I skipped over Goldeneye HD because, while I'm sure it's a fun Bond game it just didn't feel like it was worth anything over $30. And as it stands, Legends isn't looking too impressive, either.
  • that moonraker trailer didn't really do it for me, i don't like how they mix modern technology with all the original 70's characters. I would love a real goofy oldschool bond game where you have to jump crocodiles and fly that little helicopter from "You only live twice", and ofcourse all the old bond actors need to be in it! but Skyfall looked like a big improvement over Quantum of solace to me
  • Bond is one of the best things the british have to offer for entertainment. Dr Who is among the worst. I just got Bloodstone though lol. I bet people who bought the latest Bond game, will be upset to hear another new one is already around the corner. The new one doesn't live up to the N64 version. They need a better developer studio for that.
  • I'm the only one who think that Craig and Activision are really good?
  • Two things about the movie 1) Will we veteran bond fans get some gadgets in the film this time? 2) I want to see an awesome bad-ass super lair, the last we got was in Tomorrow Never Dies with the Stealth Ship. (Well ok the Submarine was ok-ish but not exactly super-villain material) About the game though why does it have to be in first person again? James Bond is more of a third-person game and YES I know Goldeneye 64 was a good game but I've always seen it as more of a game like Uncharted. FPS James Bond games always seem to have a habit of never truly capturing the style of James Bond they just have Bond shooting a bunch of guys and then a cut-scene every now and then where Bond does something cool but we don't even get to control him. I'll admit at least they got the look and feel of Moonraker right and if Activision can follow this style for each game then I think I'll buy the game just to give them credit where credit is due but please Activision, UK Release first, MGM? BRITISH! Ian Fleming? BRITISH! Danial Craig? BRITISH! If not just for a few days, say 3-4? It's not that much American gamers and please get that I only mean if one region has to wait not that Activision should make you wait for the sake of us getting it before you. Also I think they should ask Roger Moore if he wants to star in this game but if he doesn't want to then Danial Craig is ok.
  • Movie looks brilliant, so happy with that! xD The game ill admit came as a shock graphics-wise but luckily i can look past graphics so as long as the bond play-style and story is there ill eventually get it.
