New Dead Space and Need for Speed Titles During FY 2012, Says EA

New entries to both the Dead Space and Need for Speed series are expected before the end of the financial year, EA has confirmed.

The news comes via the publisher’s earnings call, in which EA detailed their upcoming releases. No details were announced. Based on previous news, however, we can speculate a little as to what the games will be and what will contain.

Dead Space 3 is rumoured to be set on an ice planet called Tau Volantis, where Isaac will encounter an enemy known as the 'hive mind.’ It has also been suggested that the protagonist will be accompanied by a separate on-screen character representing Isaac’s disintegrating mental state. Called 'Shadow Isaac' the character will mock Isaac’s every move.

Separate rumours suggest that EA are looking into making Dead Space 3 an FPS.

Meanwhile, at least one retailer began taking pre-orders on an unannounced Need for Speed title last month. If the store is to be believed, the upcoming entry to the series will be Need for Speed: Most Wanted 2.

	always loved dead space as a series and im looking forward to putting Issac through hell for the third time, but i just hope EA doesnt try to ruin it by making it another FPS and avoid fan argument like how fans wanted NFS Underground 3 yet they're giving us Most Wanted 2 :/

	Dead space cool, please don't turn it into a fps shooter in my opinion it will ruin the horror and atmosphere.

	@5 wtf, who cares about that? Lexine is definitely the most interesting character in the series (her immunity to Markers and all). I was looking forward to Severed so much and then it revealed buggerall more about her story. Really hope she comes into play in a big way for this next game. Hoping they stick to it actually being DS, 3rd person all the way! The whole "shadow isaac" thing sounds wierd to, but if they do it right then it could be really good. Guess we'll just have to wait and see. Just hope they don't balls this up because I've loved every moment of this franchise so far (Extraction and mobile included), and it all just started with me borrowing DS1 from a friend on a whim!

	i hope DS doesnt become a FPS there is to many of them. i also hope this one has more scares than the previous installments.

	I would rather they focused on Maxine for DS3 as Isaac's story has been done to death IMO.

	i like hearing that a new DS is coming but as everyone else i hope it doesn't turn into frist person (it will tend to kill the unique of the game and i know most people would compare it to f.e.a.r if it goes like that) also for the new nfs title T_T i just wish they would go back to underground 1 and 2 of the underground series was the best nfs games i played (in comparison to most wanted, shift, the run e.t.c) not comparing to the old nfs

	Loved Dead Space, but part 2 was way too much of a corridor shooter for my tastes. I suppose I'll give part 3 a chance though, provided it's not an FPS. They can just stuff that. And that "Shadow Isaac" sounds like a terrible idea as well. I'd like another Need For Speed: Shift game, but I've never been interested in the arcade style cops and street racing NFS games. They get repetitious fast.

	With the way EA are becoming (greedy) it wouldn't surprise me if you started the game literally "dead" and have to pay to play the rest of the game.. :p

	it'll be interesting to see what they do with it if the whole Shadow Isaac thing is true, but i would think having an NPC tagging along with you would take some of the paranoia out of it. i want to be able to stop and hear the bastards in the walls coming after me, instead of listening to another character nagging me incessantly. and i agree with the majority rule: if Dead Space becomes an FPS, then to hell with it.

	@16: Before March 31st. Hopefully DS won't get an annual treatment, this would kill the franchise. As for NfS: I want a new NfS: Porsche, just with more manufacturers. It was by far the best installment of the series.

	Maybe you guys will not think this is the best idea, but why not make Dead Space 3 be dominantly 3rd person, but have a few 1st person elements to expand on gameplay?

	Yea! A new Dead Space game!!! . . .wait . . . an FPS . . . really? Well hopefully they don't skimp on the campaign and try to force a COD-style MP into it. If I want to play COD, I'll play COD. I play Dead Space for the campaign. So devs, don't screw THAT up.
