@1 People still buy these games because they're reliably fun and entertaining. Sure it may have its problems, but what doesn't? Plus, with this being a trophy hunting site one must remember that this will be just another platinum to add to our collection. All the haters rambling on about whatever high horse you think you're on are idiots. Looks at the sales figures for these games over the years and you realize that it's a huge franchise. People have gone ape shit for this series since the first game! I'd call it a huge achievement on Activisions' part to be able to do that. Hell, even if this weren't an Activision game this would be an incredible feat. The series isn't going anywhere any time soon so all the people on here who are about to bitch and moan about stupid shit can just go ahead and shut the hell up because you're doing nothing more than blowing hot air.
Personally, I'm excited for this. I'm really happy to see that they're going into the future instead of sticking around with the same story lines. I look forward to another fun platinum! |

The thing is, I am bored with Call of Duty. I put about 25 days worth of play-time into MW2, I kid you not. Then my group of friends all bought Black Ops, me included. All the bugs and lag and unbalanced play were a massive let-down though so we moved back to MW2, occasionaly playing zombies mode on BO. When MW3 came out we all purchased that as soon as possible, but only really played it for a week before putting it in the cupboard. These days I cannot even bring myself to put the game in the disc slot.
TL;DR we have all played too much Call of Duty and now it is time to move on to something new.
That being said though, the future setting is what I was hoping for if they ever made another Call of Duty, but I think I will pass this time. From past experience I know it will be the same let-down, a buggy and unbalanced game with sub-par graphics and a laughable linear hollywood story. The multiplayer will be a one-sided affair with many dubious design decisions and populated by 12 year old chavs and assorted scum who take the game way too seriously. |

| @4 i agree totally. I played about 25 days of COD MP alltogether and it has seriously scarred me. I can bring myself to play it, have horrible memories of repeating the same thing over again 100s of times and i also missed out on many great games. There is a point where COD gets extremely boring but i guess its at a different point for everyone. Lots of my friends have played more than double i have and still love it. Even if i liked the game, i would still hate in inside for some reason |

Trophy site or not, Call of Duty fan or not, I have mixed feelings about this Black Ops II.
Treyarch has a bad reputation for making Veteran overly difficult. Anyone recall Heart of the Reich on Veteran in COD W@W? That was Treyarch. Remember the missile launch tunnels in Black Ops that had no checkpoints? That was Treyarch too. I loved MW, liked MW2, and bought MW3, but those were developed by Infinity Ward. Video games are supposed to be fun - and granted, Treyarch did invent the zombie mode, which many gamers enjoy - but the campaigns by Treyarch are not enjoyable.
Anything in the future that has Activision/Treyarch on it I am staying away from, including this. |

im suprised people pre order so early - like they are worried they might run out of bog standard copies.
i never bother with these right away - i wait for the hardened edition to be announced which i get just for the steelbook, sell any dlc as i wont play online and then finish the gampaign in a few days and move on.
having said that i never got round to playing more than an hour of the first black ops game, i preferred it when it was world war style play.
every year its going to get bigger and bigger, and the online will get worse and worse. there are more sites dedicated to hacking cod than playing it. |

| The more I see, the more I change my mind. I am a big fan of near-future settings (see: Deus Ex) but have grown bored with CoD, well the MP anyway. I always bought CoD for the story and will likely get this, no way I'm buying day one though, I can wait till it's been out long enough to warrant some sort of price-drop. |

| COD / BLOPS sucks ass, As usal they will churn out another game, give it a lick of paint, hardly make any modifications and make another billion off it. The MP will be just as boring with no dedicated servers, and the fact that they have had to move this one to the future shows that they have bled the current scene dry and our now becomming desperate. As far as trailers for FPS set in the future, this is really really poor, and falls well behind the likes of Killzone and Halo. |

| @10 have you played black ops on veteran it's nowhere even close to how hard veteran was on w@w.it's good to play game through without being stuck at every corner but out of my w@w mw2 bo & mw3 100% the plat/100% i like on my trophy list the most is w@w because not many people have the game 100% because it was so hard. |

@19 yeah Im with you on the fence I personally see nothing incredible about this one at all but I didnt see any hype to live up to the trailer is quite underwhelming, but I liked Black Ops more than MW3 probably because they killed off Soap who was pretty much the only interesting character apart from Ghost (who also died).
OT as soon as Hardened Edtion becomes available sales will increase again (anything in a steelbook sells) Im having trouble believing that the preorders are 3x higher than the pervious title sounds like a bullshit line to make ya think about ordering it yourself |

I personally want BO2 to be harder than the both put together!
What you have to remember is that no more than 5% of PS3 owners collect trophies, the rest play with there mates for a laugh. COD is a great game for getting all your mates together an play online! Lol im the only person out of 20 on my list that collects trophies. All my mates only really play COD or FIFA. Also when you look at the majority of COD players stats you'll notice that hardly anyone collects trophies and just plays PS3 games for the fun of it! |

@4 Agreed. I can get over the super-overpriced DLC, the fact that they are making a fool of the military with all this Hollywood crap, the fact that it's super-unrealistic, and the fact that they rip EVERYTHING from EVERYONE.
What I can't get over though, is the fact that they WILL NOT fix the multi. That's all I'm asking for. Dedicated servers, no aim assist and therefore no quickscopers, tone down the power of the killstreaks, and PLEASE fix the hit detection. |

It's pathetic how all COD news stories are filled with such childish comments. We all know why people don't like it, but think about this:
At least its fun gameplay (unlike AC)
At least there's no online pass (like Sony, EA and Ubisoft games)
At least you can play through the campaign without the game breaking (unlike Bethesda)
Call of Duty may be repetitive with its online features, its story may not be award winning, but when it comes to pure gaming fun and gameplay, not many games can match it. |

I don't much care if i sound like a weeaboo fanboy but im looking forward to this, i genuinely enjoy playing Call of Duty games, and while the stories can be a little cliche at times, and occasionally hard to follow (Black Ops 1st playthrough) there's a reason they sell so well. They're fun, interesting, challenging and they've got a good pacing for the most part.
I won't buy it on release, £45 is too steep for me these days but i will keep an eye out for the supermarket prices, GAME/GameStation can get stuffed if they think people will pay those prices!

| It always amazes me how much hatred the Call of Duty news posts receive. I'm not a COD fanboy, but the ones that I've played have been fun games. It may not be original or fresh each time a new game comes out, but few shooters (same goes with most games in general since they're all derivative from something) are. It seems to me that COD is hated because it's popular, basically making it the Nickelback of video games. |

Why are people not smart if they buy this game?
Obviously alot of people like the series and other people complaining about how bad the series is isn't going to stop them from playing it.
People can play whatever they want to play and they can buy whatever they want to buy with their money and if you don't like it then you're just going to have to get over it becuase it's not going to change any time soon. :) |

| As always the haters will always hate, if you dont like the games and dont intend to buy it then dont post. Nobody that does like the games and do plan on getting blops2 care about your silly immature jibes. Or is consistantly hating on COD games a trend or a way to make yourself feel cool. It would be understandable if it was your (the haters) money they were using to purchase the games, but as it is not then it shouldnt be a problem to you. | I have been a fan of the CoD series ever since it begun and I have been driven away from it ever since Black ops 1, I am beginning to think the only reason it is successful anymore is the franchise name and the game engine it is run on. I'm not one for near future/distant future shooters, it is my least favorite genre of games, so this is defiantly the first CoD I wont be purchasing. But space ships and remote controlled robots though.. I feel as though anyone could make a cowboy and Indians game with the Call of Duty name and game engine and it would sell millions of copies, or a game based on war of independence with the Call of Duty name and game engine and it would also sell millions. They have bled the series dry and I think that's why they have made the big change, but what's Sledgehammar(Infinity Ward) going to do next.... and since Treyarch take a different approach to every game I wonder what there next one is going to be after Black ops 2. I really am curious to see the out come of the Call of Duty Franchise in the the next few years. |

| Black ops is made by treyarch and modern warfare is made by activision/infinity ward. Black ops2 will most likely be a good game, don't be confused, if you were dissappointed with MW3 like so many other gamers don't take that fustration out on the wrong company guys. |
