Woah! Something new to the COD series, it's a bout bloody time!Tuesday, May 01, 2012 @ 06:43 AM
it is what the series needs. I'm not a huge CoD player, but this is a good thing.Tuesday, May 01, 2012 @ 06:43 AM
Looks alrightTuesday, May 01, 2012 @ 06:45 AM
LET THE BITCHING BEGIN!!!Tuesday, May 01, 2012 @ 06:46 AM
I don't get why everyone always critasizes the CoD games sure they are all the same graphics each time but they are made by two different companies each year so in a way it's a new game every two years each time both being worked hard onTuesday, May 01, 2012 @ 06:47 AM
call of duty future warfare.what everyone wanted wasn't it ?Tuesday, May 01, 2012 @ 06:50 AM
I prefer the colourful but dark Black Ops cold war setting...but too early to make proper assumpyions.Tuesday, May 01, 2012 @ 06:53 AM
...I was hoping they'd step up the graphics a little...Tuesday, May 01, 2012 @ 06:54 AM
Looks cool my change my mind around E3 about getting it.Tuesday, May 01, 2012 @ 06:54 AM
@2 emmm no what COD needs is a whole new engine and at least a year out to develop it so we can give a shit, do you honestly mean to tell me all COD needed was essentially a redesigned Recon Drone with four rotor blades? thumb me down if you want but I thought these screen shots would show some spectacular addition to the series based on the hype et of MW3 but all Im seeing is basically COD's take on Tom Clancys Future Solider and adding a quad rotor is hardly bringing something new to the table that can individually define this game from the rest of the series considering MW3 has a Recon Drone its hardly a huge job to edit the model based on that and strap a gun and an additional 3 blades to it.Tuesday, May 01, 2012 @ 06:56 AM
At least, they are trying something different.Tuesday, May 01, 2012 @ 07:07 AM
I really wasn't expecting to see that when i imagined the screens... My only thing would be doesn't that kind of step on the toes of the MW part of the series?Tuesday, May 01, 2012 @ 07:09 AM
Bodycount 2? lolTuesday, May 01, 2012 @ 07:10 AM
Zombies in the future. Can't wait. Let's hope for better graphics and smoother gunplay.Tuesday, May 01, 2012 @ 07:11 AM
My one and only issue, is the same as Black Ops 1 "Black Ops" mean covert, deniable, that kind of thing. THERE IS A FUCKING GREAT HOLE IN THE SIDE OF THAT CAR PARK! Hardly Deniable! That being said, I'm a fan of Call of Duty, so I'm looking forward to the full trailerTuesday, May 01, 2012 @ 07:14 AM
@10 - well of course it needs a complete overhaul, but that's not going to happen. I agree with what you are saying, im simply saying that this is at least a step, albeit small, in the right direction.Tuesday, May 01, 2012 @ 07:15 AM
Could be good, although I think a Black Ops sequel (with Mason and the rest) would've been more appropriate. Future Warfare I envisaged from Infinity Ward.Tuesday, May 01, 2012 @ 07:16 AM
The city in image 2 looks pretty weel done, at least the destruction... It's hard to comment on the game without trailers, so I'll wait the debut trailer to say anything about BO2.Tuesday, May 01, 2012 @ 07:18 AM
AWESOME!Tuesday, May 01, 2012 @ 07:23 AM
YES! Creativity! This is what the haters wanted! I might give it a go now!Tuesday, May 01, 2012 @ 07:24 AM
The only people that bitch about these games are the people that tend to get owned online. COD IS THE BEST SERIES EVER SO A BIG FUCK YOU IF U DONT AGREE ;)Tuesday, May 01, 2012 @ 07:34 AM
I really enjoyed the online experience with the first Black Ops. I think Treyarch does good work.Tuesday, May 01, 2012 @ 07:37 AM
this franchise has lost so much credibility from me that I won't pick it up just because of the nameTuesday, May 01, 2012 @ 07:38 AM
GoodBye CoD, Hello Halo....Tuesday, May 01, 2012 @ 07:42 AM
@TroubleMaker411 The hole in the wall was made by swamp gas creating reflecting the sun's gaze while a gas main explosion occurred in the building. I could easily work for the DoDTuesday, May 01, 2012 @ 07:42 AM
@21 Look me up... at least a 1.2 KD on every COD since 4. There are logical, rational reasons to be a hater, ya know.Tuesday, May 01, 2012 @ 07:49 AM
@26 1.2 KD hahaha thats the logial reason why you're a hater. Im over 2.0 on allTuesday, May 01, 2012 @ 07:49 AM
time to jump into the call of duty craze now. Black Ops 2 well be my 1st Call of Duty since Call of Duty 2. I guess its time to pre-order.Tuesday, May 01, 2012 @ 07:56 AM
@21 Yeah, right. Most people hating COD used to like it but prefer games with something more interesting to do than camp, boost and rage-quit to maintain their KDR's.Tuesday, May 01, 2012 @ 07:56 AM
I'll wait longer before passing judgement. If Treyarch put character customisation into this then that would strongly sway my opinion!Tuesday, May 01, 2012 @ 08:01 AM
@29 hahaha the classic answer! bet you're the sort of person to call everyone who kills you a camper. i run round quick scopin and no scoping, its not exactly hard. In other words u enjoy prefer games that u dont suck atTuesday, May 01, 2012 @ 08:04 AM
YES! YES! YES!Tuesday, May 01, 2012 @ 08:05 AM
Looks like shit, same graphics engineTuesday, May 01, 2012 @ 08:06 AM
Both series r now essentially modern warfare (in the literal meaning) and im pretty bummed about that i think black ops was the best SP cod game the cold war setting was fantastic as this is 1 of thee most interesting time periods in history. also i think the color palette is nice it looks like what id imagine a near-future cold war scenario to b like but im not sure about them quadrotor drones lol.Tuesday, May 01, 2012 @ 08:06 AM
@27 Maybe you should stop quickscoping like a noob and use a real gun. Then we'll see about that 2 KD. I bet you pronounce FAMAS "fam-iss", too.Tuesday, May 01, 2012 @ 08:11 AM
@31 Not really, I liked campers they were easy pickings. What sort of games do you mean? Hannah Montana: The Movie? Cars 2? Megamind? Cabela's North American Adventure? Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs? Nice, but I'll give them a miss cheers.Tuesday, May 01, 2012 @ 08:18 AM
Why call it Black Ops 2 if it's not directly tied to the first, this should be called Call of Duty: Modern(er) Warfare :pTuesday, May 01, 2012 @ 08:20 AM
@35 ARE YOU SPECIAL? its harder to get kills with a sniper quick scoping than a real gun as it takes skill, not just spraying madly like a complete dick. if i used a 'real' gun i would win END OF. i pronouce famas fam-iss??? HAHAHAHA what a homosexual thing to say. You sir are mentally challenged @31 stop hating on my kids games dude. At the end of the day my penis is alot bigger than yours so i win all arguments u have to put towards me HAHAHATuesday, May 01, 2012 @ 08:22 AM
*@36 not 31Tuesday, May 01, 2012 @ 08:30 AM
@29 i could have said it better myself.. lol, @31. well good luck {trying} to quickscope in black ops 2 well,, since there WONT be any aim assists , that's right the beloved aim assist will be taken out along with the death streaks , you will need to bring actual skill to the table in here, As for the trailer everyone's jaw will drop with drool, Head down to gamestop and pre order your Collectors Edition now for $130 comes with replica of RC Quadrotor , STEEL CASE , Elite 2.0-1yr subscription and a lil dairy book holding info on all the 22 new weapons. /// A MUST GETTuesday, May 01, 2012 @ 08:31 AM
SWEEEEEEEEEEEEEET. I am so ready for this future sh*t.Tuesday, May 01, 2012 @ 08:39 AM
Another year, another same CoD...... -_-" Why do people buy into these things :STuesday, May 01, 2012 @ 08:41 AM
Why do I click on CoD stories? They never contain anything of interest.Tuesday, May 01, 2012 @ 08:52 AM
@38 Wow do you really have nothing better to do than flame the haters? Notice you're the only one commenting on here nonstop. Everyone else has to pause their JOB to comment. :PTuesday, May 01, 2012 @ 08:54 AM
looks really promising for black ops 2. i can't wait personally.Tuesday, May 01, 2012 @ 08:58 AM
@35, it is actually FAMAS (fam-iss) Get over it. Or just go work on your Hannah Montana plat, whatever is cool with you. Have a nice day.Tuesday, May 01, 2012 @ 09:03 AM
Someone got a halo stuck on my cod.Tuesday, May 01, 2012 @ 09:07 AM

Cant find anywhere to pre-order it in the UK yet :( Will there be a cloaking device? Who will the enemy be? ....am so freaking excited about the trailer now! As this is set in future i have cancelled my Ghost Recon pre-order and instead ordered Max Payne 3 for this monthTuesday, May 01, 2012 @ 09:49 AM
@51 thats funny you mention that, check out this link http://www.computerandvideogames.com/344946/activision-hints-at-near-future-setting-for-black-ops-2/Tuesday, May 01, 2012 @ 10:05 AM
Well I'm buying this unless they removed the Zombies mode. Futuristic ZOmbies has me already thinking awesomeness.Tuesday, May 01, 2012 @ 10:08 AM
lol looks terrible going by the screenshots.Tuesday, May 01, 2012 @ 10:13 AM
Really hope there's a final prestige trophy this time round!Tuesday, May 01, 2012 @ 10:14 AM
im proboly gonna buy halo 4 instead.Tuesday, May 01, 2012 @ 10:31 AM
It doesn't seem very new or different judging by the screens... I'll wait until I see more, but there hasn't been a COD game that piqued my interest in a long time.Tuesday, May 01, 2012 @ 10:40 AM
Graphics are outdated and old. Looks horrible, what is this 16-bit?Tuesday, May 01, 2012 @ 10:45 AM
@56 HELLLL NO Maybe 1 but not allTuesday, May 01, 2012 @ 10:51 AM
I agree with you #10 its running out of ideas and using other games methods, there's definitely a ghost reconish vibe and the drones have been done already in homefront (called parrot drones)will wait until seen the trailer to see what they are going with this. tbh the whole fps genre is getting a bit stale, I SAY COD- COWBOYS AND INJUNS!!Tuesday, May 01, 2012 @ 10:56 AM
And now for something completely different?Tuesday, May 01, 2012 @ 11:21 AM
LOOK AT THIS BIG ARSE MACHINE IN THE GAME https://twitpic.com/show/large/9g0xepTuesday, May 01, 2012 @ 11:22 AM
The only thing I liked about Black Ops, was that it was set in the past -.-' I mean, with Modern Warfare 3 around, + 11 months' worth of DLC to go, I can't imagine why you would want to buy this...Tuesday, May 01, 2012 @ 01:07 PM
@59. 16 bit... funny, and wrong.Tuesday, May 01, 2012 @ 01:10 PM
Um..MW3 was set in the future. Only 2018 but still the future.Tuesday, May 01, 2012 @ 01:24 PM
I just wish they'd get off the Russia is enemy #1 kick...Tuesday, May 01, 2012 @ 02:05 PM
What the FUCK? Is that Halo!?Tuesday, May 01, 2012 @ 02:26 PM
Lets just hope that are new graphics in this one, instrat of useing the same graphics since MW1. And some new gameplay fictureTuesday, May 01, 2012 @ 03:01 PM
@ #66 Actually MW3 is 2016 - 2017 ... though being 1 year off doesnt make a difference in the long run.Tuesday, May 01, 2012 @ 03:02 PM
@37 CoD: Future WarfareTuesday, May 01, 2012 @ 03:08 PM
...So it's ripping off Future Soldier and Crysis (minus aliens and Nanosuit) off now? Doing a game on Operation Charybdis would make more sense for BOII than a game set about 70 years after the first Black Ops. I'm interested in seeing what they do with this, but so far I'm disappointed in the simple tacking-on of "Black Ops" just to create another CoD series akin to Modern Warfare.Tuesday, May 01, 2012 @ 03:12 PM
I don't care what people say about THE CoD Series. I'm one of those people that plays these games and I will continue to play them. Day 1 buy for me anyway.Tuesday, May 01, 2012 @ 03:27 PM
If Russia is still the villain and as poorly portrayed as always in CoD games... It will be as expected.Tuesday, May 01, 2012 @ 03:47 PM
isn't Black Ops supposed to take place in the past cause those helicopters looks futuristic.Tuesday, May 01, 2012 @ 06:08 PM
Well, I'll wait for more details about the game, but from the looks of that setting its seems to be a cross between alien future weapons like HALO and realistic moderny weapons. So I guess that makes it more or less Battlefield: 2142 with a campaign and smaller maps. I'm still interested if there's Zombies. Hopefully they add Wonder Weapons to multiplayer too. I might actually enjoy multiplayer just to call in a Wonder Weapon care package. Screw calling in a death machine. I wanna call in a Ray Gun. Screw Grim Reapers, I want to bring in a Scavenger.Tuesday, May 01, 2012 @ 07:02 PM
It's surprising that no one has used that awful "don't like it don't buy it" argument in a attempt to exempt criticism.Wednesday, May 02, 2012 @ 04:00 AM
Sweet! This is looking great! :DMonday, May 07, 2012 @ 11:42 AM
LIKE IF YOU THINK THIS ONE WILL BE THE BEST YET!!Sunday, May 20, 2012 @ 07:47 PM
His helmet looks like one of the helmets from HALO Reach

[Update]
Following the leak, Activision has finally confirmed the name Black Ops 2, as well as the game's future setting,
"Pushing the boundaries of what fans have come to expect from the record-setting entertainment franchise, Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 propels players into a near future, 21st Century Cold War, where technology and weapons have converged to create a new generation of warfare," says the game's updated website.
The first trailer will be shown during the NBA playoffs in the US, which will begin at 7.30pm EST tonight (after midnight UK time). The website also confirms the game's release date. It hits stores on November 13th.
[Original Story]
The first images of Call of Duty: Black Ops II have leaked onto the web ahead of the game’s formal announcement later today. Rather interestingly, they seem to confirm a near-future setting for the game.
There are three images in total, all of which show the game’s Quadrotor drones in action. They’re essentially badass RC flying machine guns. Another of the images shows a soldier, presumably a player character, in a future-tastic helmet, brandishing a rather large rifle.
All of which represents a rather big change for the series (apart from the big gun part). The future! We’ll be getting more info as the day goes on, but in the meantime what do you reckon? Is a future setting just what the series needed? Are you excited by the prospect of piloting a Quadrotor? Are you disappointed by the washed-out brown colour palette? Tell us! And keep it constructive, please.
