Resident Evil 6 is shaping up to be a huge prospect, not just in terms of popularity, but length too. Eiichiro Sasaki reckons it’s going to be around 30 hours long.

Pointing to the interweaving, yet discrete stories of Chris Redfield, Leon Kennedy and Wesker Jr in Resi 6, game director Sasaki told NowGamer, “The three characters each have their own story and you can choose whichever one you want and play that story, experience that character’s story.”

“In terms of length, each character’s story is a little bit less than RE5 but when you combine them together you’re getting something that is much longer.

“While each character’s story stands alone, all of the characters wind up in the same area of the game, in China, so there is a certain level of overlap. They stand on their own but they do overlap in certain areas. You don’t have to play them all, of course.”

Heartening news, then. Coupled with yesterday’s revelation that the game will be out almost a month earlier than previously expected, it’s a good time to be a Resident Evil fan. Let’s just forget about Operation Raccoon City, yeah?

Meanwhile, if all this Resi 6 news has got you excited, then you may be interested in the Japanese special edition of the game. You’ll have to be really excited though. It’s one of the most expensive special editions in history.

Weighing in at a whopping 105,000 yen (approx.  £820/$1300), the Premium Edition includes the game, a set of four case covers and - this is the expensive part - Leon Kennedy's leather jacket. The four case covers represent one for each of the playable characters, plus another “secret” design that is yet to be revealed.
