Following today's earlier leak of the debut Lost Planet 3 trailer, Capcom has now come forward with the official trailer in high definition, and the first set of screenshots showing off some in-game action, as new protagonist Jim faces off against the marauding Akrid in a giant mech.

Jim is a blue-collar rig pilot working for NEVEC (Neo-Venus Construction) on EDN III, who are still hard at work preparing the inhospitable planet for widespread colonisation. However, the native Akrid are still rather unwelcoming as the humans attempt to take over their home planet while mining precious Thermal Energy. The solution? Kill 'em all and send 'em packing.

There'll be a range of multiplayer modes in Lost Planet 3, as well as the usual campaign set amid the ever-changing climate of EDN III that promises to delve deeper into the secrets of the Lost Planet universe. Lost Planet 3 will be coming in early 2013. Check out the trailer and all seven screenshots in the gallery.

Granted I don't see how the first two really sold that well to get a 3rd i'll give them this it looks better then the 2nd but will in handle better? Controls feel so bad in the first two and online muti player was just so bad you have to give so much space from your target and the spot you are aiming at just for you to hit them.

I'll most likely pick this up for 20 bucks in a discount bin a few months after it comes out to just have the whole part.

Love the games but the legendary developers scare me! Also the first person perspective

This looks cool. I actually liked Lost Planet 2 but the multiplayer was doomed from the start and the beef of the game, the campaign, got repetitive without coop friends. If the LP3 can improve on the campaign experience to be more dynamic to improve replayability and make the trophies a little bit less of a middle finger, then I might just have to pick this game up.

I love the Lost Planet series, and i'll be buying this regardless of what happens, even if it means purchasing DLC already on the disc.

I really hope the trophies don't suck like they did for the previous game.
