Fresh GTA V Rumours Are Interesting, Highly Dubious

A few details about Grand Theft Auto V are swirling around the net, carrying the distinctive whiff of bullshit about them. Still, they’re interesting talking points.

The info apparently comes from someone who “recently got sacked from Rockstar North for general misconduct.” A friend of the ex-Rockstar employee got hold of the details before posting it on the Gamespot forums. So goes the story, anyway. The post has since been deleted, but you can see it through here.

According to the source, the playable character in Grand Theft Auto V will be someone called Albert de Silva. He’s the “rich guy” featured in the first trailer. Half Hispanic, De Silva is part of a gang from Vice City. He has a son, a “stereotypical CoD player” who is “lazy, useless and shouts racial abuse online.”

Previous rumours have linked Albert de Silva with the lead role.

Apparently, the map will be five times bigger than GTA IV, with Los Santos taking up around half of the total area. Unlike GTA IV, you will be able to fly a variety of planes. Cars and weapons will be customisable. You will be able to take drugs. Smoking weed on the street will give you a one star wanted rating.

Multiplayer will support up to 32 players, with players able to form gangs. who will be ranked by reputation. These gangs will carry out missions including holding up a laundry and stealing weapons from the military.

The source reckons Grand Theft Auto V is lined up for a May 2013 release. At least six months of core development are needed before a more specific window can be set. The game will be playable at E3 this year.

So look, unless it hasn’t already been made clear enough, these details are probably not true. Believable, but still not true. Rockstar has yet to officially reveal any info on the game and the source’s story seems a bit iffy. So take everything you’ve read above as unlikely. There's more details in the forum post.

All that aside, however, there's some interesting talking points amongst the info. What do you make of this vision of GTA V?

	Sounds interesting. I wonder if they'll have a new graphics engine? Be cool (and realistic) if you had to fill your car up with gas, and you have to take care of your character (game will tell you when he's hungry, if he's drying of hunger, etc.)

	I hate how sites post "news" about rumors that they repeatedly have to remind people about most likely being bullshit. So why bother posting it and help spread some losers rumor and give him the attention he wants? That's why the Internet is such a joke.

	The online gang idea sounds like a good idea might just hope the online is not like IV as i didn't enjoy it.

	#2: I feel like if you have the same car long enough to where you run it out of gas, you're probably playing GTA wrong haha. Sometimes I do like the idea of more realism like that though (I really liked how Fallout: New Vegas did stuff like that.). Maybe if it were a switchable option in the settings or something. But not if it's mandatory.

	@2 I really hope not. I hope there will be more coop based missions in GTA IV. But I will only play it with people from this site, otherwise I end up with randoms who decide to jump out the car and head into the strip club in the middle of a Cops and Crooks game!

	Lolz @ five times bigger than GTAIV. That is way too big and overwhelming. I will start another rumor: Every house and building on the map is enter-able. You can go in, wash your hands, vacuum the carpeting, and even poop on the floor -- While smoking weed! This will result in a 2 star wanted rating.

	@8 More co-op would be good. I really enjoyed the co-op in GTA IV, it was a great way to just mess around with mates, but three missions wasn't enough.

	Something else I'd love to see is a world that actually changes during the course of the story. I get kind of fed up with staring at the same construction site for the duration of the game. Wouldn't it be cool if the workers actually finished what they were building?

	Story mode with complete co-op ability would be nice, BMX, bikes, etc, The ability to buy businesses and start an empire. More clothes customisation would be cool, 4 ws just poor. I only liked the black suit in that.

	Since when has Rockstar ever made a high profile game available to play before the release? If someone is going to create rumors at least have some knowledge on the game company before you do so.

	Sounds interesting, principally in have another hispanic protagonist (that for the last name sounds a brazilian), either if this new is true or not sounds good. @2: In my opinion is very possible, since 2K Czech is working in the game too and they are putting their graphic engine and maybe their ideas, is a possibility (Mafia II had the feature of the put gas in the car)

	I wouldn't like to run out of gas If I'm playing on free mode and being chased, rolling to a stop waiting for your death. How gripping.

	Five times bigger than GTA IV seems a bit farfetched. The other details sound interesting though even if they turn out to be rubbish.

	@21 lol. Gullible much? I heard that rumor from a FuncoLand employee when I went there.....to preorder GTA:Vice City. I cant guarantee much (death, taxes, etc.), but i can GUARANTEE that will never, ever happen in a GTA game. Ever.
