We can remember the first time we ever played a Twisted Metal game. Something about it felt illicit and a bit forbidden, especially given the controversy that had surrounded Carmageddon not long before the original game's release, if memory serves us correctly. This kind of thing was a bit sensitive at the time, and all the better for it. Now it's back, following the oh-so-popular trend of reboots, but bucking that very trend with a reboot that isn't really a reboot at all. Twisted Metal is more of a throwback to a time when games where resolutely hardcore in every conceivable sense, but in 2012, is that still a good thing? Should we have grown out of Twisted Metal's gloriously twisted and tasteless vehicular mayhem by now? Do we still have a Sweet Tooth for some Twisted Metal? | |
