Combining strategy and first-person shooter action, Battleship: The Video Game takes the upcoming movie based on the classic board game as its inspiration, but like the movie, features a few invading aliens thrown in for good measure. Perhaps Hollywood thought a movie where someone barked out grid co-ordinates for 90 minutes might not be a winner.

Playing as US Navy elite specialist, Cole Mathis, you'll have to take the battle to the invaders at sea, in the air and on land, commanding a naval fleet to keep your attackers at bay. You'll use realistic naval units, firing off rounds from your battleships' cannons, sinking those pesky aliens.

Battleship: The Video Game will be setting grid coordinates for a European launch on April 20th, with a US release to follow on May 15th. There's 11 new screenshots to check out in the gallery and a teaser trailer to watch below.
