PS3T Review Section Opens With Soul Calibur V Review

Your eyes do not deceive you, no... PS3T now does reviews, huzzah! Starting from now till the end of time - or at least till the world blows up and the human race becomes extinct - PS3T will now be doing PlayStation 3 retail reviews - PSN games will come at a later date - for your viewing pleasure.

Today we kick off one of the most requested features on PS3T: PS3 reviews. It's been something we've been working on behind the scenes for quite some time actually - from logistics, images, planning and resource management - and 2012 is the time we've finally felt comfortable rolling these out.

The usual PS3T writers will be penning the reviews over here - myself, Rich, Lee & X360A reviewer, Lee Abrahams - reviewing both games on both platforms simultaneously. That means we'll be playing through each version thoroughly - read, for the most part, to completion - testing the netcode to exhaustion on both formats, pinpointing the differences in each version - if there are any - so multiplatform owners can then choose which version they want. We always make a conscious effort here to give you our best and most honest judgement in the video game world and we'll continue to do so through these PS3 reviews.

It's also worth mentioning that they won't be fully accessible from the main page (apart from via the news feed) until we have 5 up... so give us a few weeks and that'll be operational there.

We usually don't allow comments on review news posts, but seeing as this is the first of an era, we'll let that rule slide for once. Ladies and gents, let me present the first ever PS3T review... and the first of many. Check out those sexy images too - a big shout out to Kevin for those!

First features, now reviews, whatever next? Stay tuned to find out!

Read our definitive Soul Calibur V review to find out.

Good luck with this new topic. I wish you the best and as a huge fan of this site I'll read this reviews very often. Just like a little request: Keep your good comments and avoid the fanboy comments (like in other sites). You have a very good site here to let it crush like other sites that scores according to the reviewer likes and dislikes. I wish you the best and thanks to all the staff.

@#4 Fear not, we're fans of games and not platforms/developers/publishers and so on. Not a fanboy in sight behind the scenes, if there is, we impale them with a huge spear. True story.

So, it's pretty much a Copy and Paste job of what's been on the sister site for years?

What could have possibly made that take so long to make it over here?

@#11 - Nothing of the sort. We were keen to be able to make sure we could play through both versions of the game in their entirety before starting the reviews on PS3T, so that you can get an honest opinion on the PS3 version. Doing that before Lee (Bradley) joined the roster was next to impossible - doing both versions of the game obviously doubles the amount of time it takes to write a review and with only a handful of reviewers, that was next to impossible. So it was more of a resource issue, and giving you guys & gals the content that you deserve. We're only a small indie team, so resource issues are always what holds us back the most, but that's something we hope to overcome as we continue to grow.

This is great. Any chance older, popular games like Skyrim or Battlefield will get reviewed?

@17...Unfortunately no. As Webb said earlier, we have limited resources available. It's too much to ask the few reviewers that we have to do the newer games as well as older games. We're going to be doing reviews for games from Soul Calibur going forward.

Just had a chance to read the review. From the other sites, I felt the game to be stale and more of the same. Nowhere after reading your review im leaning the other way now. I liked the detail you gave on the modes, description of the game, and leveling up online. These are things other sites don't point out. Good luck guys. Love the sight and the review section is looking great.

Awesome, the fact that trophies are considered and written about in the review means I will likely be reading every single future review. Well done guys.

Cool, pretty unfair that the sister site XBox360a, have reviews and PS3t not, great you are working in this page to make it the best.

You should allow us to sync our ID/trophies in this site too, would be cool hehe

@5 Mr. Dan Webb, I admire your attitude towards fanboys. I would also kill them, especially if they dissed the PS3.

@11, I just cant seem to understand how a senior member of the site like yourself can always come up with negative comments on every newsfeed I go to.
Anyways, back on topic, I really enjoyed the reviews of the sister site, and its great to see PS3T add them too, great new feature for this site.

Great feature!! :)

As you say Webb that theres only a few reviewers who will be doing this therefore only new games will get a review, you could set up a 'review team' or something on here so some older games could get a review to.

I look forward to seeing more of these, great stuff.

Yes, lovely... except, after SO much emphasis and want and anticipation... I've already found a large number of problems with SCV. Firstly... where's everyone else's involvement with story mode? Raphael, Mitsurugi, Yoshimitsu, etc...? No stories for them? Shame. Second... no option for infinite time during offline versus? SHAME!!! Fix with patch, now! Next... legendary souls mode? Forgive me for not being a hardcore gamer but therre's no chance in hell I 'm ever getting past Kilik. Comp's doing like the online fighters, bashing out looping combos... Character Creation? So far very very good!! Hope more FACES and HAIR styles appear including facial hair. Hermit Beard from SCIII, please!

Nay, one last thing -hate- above all else in this game... when it happens, the complete, absolute SHATTERING of my characters clothing... after spending SO-O-O-O much time making it, only for him/her being naked when the battle's over. Why, Namco, you -idiots!-, why?! How's it gonna make a good replay online, if I win in a cool, wicked way with my naked character! You incompetent morons! Fix this!

There's no Zasalamel style, no Talim, no Amy, no Yun Seung or Seong Mi-Na... SCIII is better than SCIV and SCIV is better than SCV... they've taken out too much and added too little. True there's lots of nice features n' all, BUT there's THREE Edgemasters, Edgemaster himself, Kilik and Elysium... pointless! There's no extra faces, hair styles or facial hair... What's going on, Namco, all huff and bluster with no results.
