Kojima Vid Reveals MGS5 ideas - Was to be Set in WWII

Konami has released a subtitled version of their Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance documentary. It's absolutely rammed with interesting stuff.

Topping out at around 25 minutes, the vid covers all of the topics that have been hitting the headlines this week. Up for discussion is the troubled development of Metal Gear Rising, the game's eventual change of studio to Platinum, plus some of Kojima's ideas for the next, proper Metal Gear Solid instalment.

Interestingly, at one point MGS5 was going to be set in World War II. "I had several ideas for a game featuring The Boss and the Cobra Unit during the invasion of Normandy. I then handed these plans over to the team so they could take over and make the game," says Kojima in the vid.

"I presented my ideas to the team during the summer of 2008. However, simply dropping MGS5 on the younger staff members was a bit heavy and there was resistance to doing it without my involvement."

Full vid is below. Set half an hour aside and get stuck in.

YES, my prediction was 100% right
I'm a genius :D
Back story of BOSS would be amazing, she was one the strongest character in MGS series, stronger heart than BIG BOSS

It makes me sad that he keeps saying he wants to release a new Zone of the Enders, but his team isn't big enough to tackle on two games :(

Still, I am glad he is considering a Big Boss/Boss story line rather then Solid Snake. PLEASE HAVE GRAY FOX!!

Naw, they should do one back in the civil war when The End was just starting out.

Imagine the weird bosses. You'd have that one guy with like...12 muskets. long conversations with...passenger pigeons. Cannons on stilts.

"Snake, check out the recent developments in this technology from Britain. They call it...corrugated fiber..."
"corrugated fiber?"
"yeah, they use it to make heavy boxes. You could put almost anything in them."
"Maybe you could even...get inside one? and use it for cover."
"I don't know, snake. No one has seen a box like this before. It might be too conspicuous."
"Hmmph."

Haha nice.

I cannot wait for both Metal Gear games. As long as Rising is done right, I don't care if Platinum is doing it. Both are going to be 1st day buys but until then, I have the trusty HD Metal Gears to keep me company.

@8 You SHOULD care that Platinum Games is doing Rising now... 'cuz it means it WILL be done right, lol.

That said, I can't wait for more Metal Gear games, either. Its just... I want a new Zone of the Enders one more. Get on it, Kojima!
