THQ & Obsidian's South Park: The Game Coming in 2012

In what is a bizarre turn of events, one that we didn't see coming at all, it appears that THQ and Obsidian will be joining forces to bring you South Park: The Game in 2012, a fully-blown retail RPG title.

Teased moments ago by Game Informer, who has the game on their next cover, South Park: The Game, which is an RPG and whose script has been penned by South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone themselves, is described as an "ambitious project" and a "full-scale RPG," and will be hitting the PS3 and Xbox 360 in 2012.

According to the short blurb on the game, you'll play as the new kid in town who will have to make friends and defend the small mountain town from a wide range of threats - presumably one of those is Cartman!

Wow. Just wow... and that's not in a bad way. Just in a shocked way... after all, we loves our South Park!

There's not much else than that to go on just yet, but it's early days for THQ and Obsidian's latest announcement. Expect more from this one in the coming months.

lol of course kenny would be a princess, then again with some of the fan art out thee he has already been one XD i just hope its good.

i wonder if this will be like the penny arcade rpg in play style and the fact it will be full of humor.

That's awesome that Matt and Trey are writing this game. They said awhile ago that the south park video games were a huge let down to them. Glad to see they are taking things into their own hands on this one. Can't wait!

i also loved the first game, the fps on the n64, i still remember the master code bobbybird, this game could be really fun. definetly keeping an eye on it.

That they have you playing as a new kid in town is a red flag to me. Don't get me wrong; the game could very well be great and all. That little bit of information is just enough to make me skeptical. Oh well. We'll see.

South Park has been my favourite show for years. I hope they don't just try to cash in and put out rubbish. the n64 version was pretty awful if I remember correctly. probably took them 10 minutes to make using the turok engine.

its is a full retail release (at #62) i just hope they make it as good if not better than the fps on the n64, with alot more humor than chef's love shack too.
