Ion Assault HD, the twin-stick shooter with a difference, hits PSN today. Here’s the launch trailer. The game’s unique combat mechanic allows you to suck up ions from the environment and then squirt them back out to defeat enemies. It also features a rather nifty dynamic difficulty system, meaning that the faster you take out obstacles, the faster the game will chuck more at you. The reasoning behind this is to allow players of all abilities to have a bash, without getting obliterated in thirty seconds. Don’t be fooled though, it gets mighty tough once you’ve got to grips with it. In short, it’s an interesting game with more than enough to separate it from the pack. Indeed, it picked up a few admiring glances when it hit XBLA and PC a couple of years ago. You can download it now. Right now. This second. If you want.
