Lightning Strikes DC Universe Online
Written Thursday, November 17, 2011 By Dave Olsen

With DC Universe Online recently gone free to play (as of November 1), a new DLC expansion is set to release later this year.  Featuring the Flash and his stable of villains, "Lightning Strikes" adds a new power set, electricity.  The DLC features the following:

  • The all new Central City map.
  • The Flash Museum Duo - Travel back in time to see when and how Barry Allen became the Flash.
  • Electricity Powers - New powers like the Tesla Ball, Shockwave, and Ionic Drain will be added.
  • New gear for villains and heroes inspired by Black Lightning and Professor Zoom.
  • New characters including Livewire, Black Lightning, The Top, The Trickster, Static, and more.

Like "Fight for the Light", "Lightning Strikes" will be free for those that pay for the Legendary access ($15 per month).  If you have either Premium ($5 spent in the store) or Free access, then it will be $9.99. If you don't know the breakdown of what each access level allows, then this handy chart will clear up any confusion. The one thing that is left out there are the trophies, and those require Legendary access to unlock.

Retail versions of the game have also been phased out, but it is free to download in the PSN Store.

Check out the new screenshots below.

There was a rumor when the game first came out that they was going to give the players the Electricity Power Set. I'm looking forward to this DLC as well, but I still got to finish getting the Fight For the Light DLC trophies as well :)

And it nice to know that you still get their DLC free with $15 subscription

It took me 11 hour to download the game, and a few button presses to remove it after 5min of play.

So, you have to pay for the trophies? Why do you have to pay twice for DLC trophies instead of once (just for the DLC)?

Feel free to correct me if i'm wrong. I followed the link and there was nothing.

You don't have to pay for the DLC expansion at all. If you pay 15 a month for the subscription to unlock the trophies while you playing in your Legendary status. You'll get the DLC free no matter what. Just go into the store and you'll be able to download it for free. Once you do you have it forever. I still have Fight for the Light which was free. I'm sure this will be the same.

Just don't pay the 9.99 for it because that's a rip off since it'll require you to have legendary status to even unlock the trophies.

@3 Yeah no...DLC is inescapable at this point. Everyone I know has one game they buy DLC for. Whether its Map packs for COD or car packs for DIRT or skins for Uncharted everyone eventually wants some form of DLC the only thing seperating you from them is the $$$ to actually buy the DLC they want.

I buy a lot of DLC but I draw the line. I sit back and weigh the $ to worth ratio. $15 for map packs? Screw off. $9.99 for a new area, new powers, new enemies, I'm down for that.

Lengendary is the stuff I'm made of, so if $15 is all it takes to snag up everything then so be it!

So you need legendary status for DLC trophies but only premium for regular trophies?

@16

If you're referring to the phased out part at the end of the article, then your disc will still work. What they are saying is that they are not making anymore hard copies of the game.

If your deciding between buying 1 month of legendary access or a DLC get legendary. Why because you get the DLCs for free and more and you stay a premium member when you run out.

You mean Electricity powers and the Flash weren't part of the game since Day 1? Seriously? That's just...ugh.
