The Simpsons Arcade Game Classified for PSN

We remember wasting many a 50 pence piece on The Simpsons Arcade Game in a pre-smoking ban pub back in the day, so the possibility of it coming back on the PlayStation Network is something we'd relish enormously. According to a rating on the Australian Classification Board, The Simpsons Arcade Game might well be coming to PSN.

And like X-Men Arcade for PSN before it, developer Backbone Entertainment will be handling the game, if the listing is anything to go by, meaning that the possibility of another perfect collaboration between Backbone and Konami could be on the cards.

If Backbone can repeat the bang up job it did on X-Men Arcade, and this turns out to be kosher, then we could be looking at a port of one of our most fondly remembered arcade games. We'll have more info on The Simpsons Arcade Game when we get it.

The best part about this game was the fact that any two characters had a unique team-up attack.

Bart+Lisa = Hold hands and skip
Homer+Marge = Roll around in a circle/hoop
Bart+Homer = Bart sits on Homer's shoulders and swings his skateboard

I loved this game as a kid, and remember spending way too much money on it (and X-Men as well). I would buy it if it ends up being released.

AWESOME! Cant believe what Im reading. The Simpsons Arcade Game was basically the game that got me into serious gaming. Had it at a local rollerskating rink about 17yrs ago and I would play for hours. Would be amazing if this came to PSN

i really want this! i played it for years all growing up in the arcades and finally beat it when i was around 16 lol right before the last of the arcades really closed up. So happy they are releasing it.

@27 XBLA has the original TMNT game. I know because I have it. I was hoping that the PSN would have it eventually. And speaking Turtles In Time, they REALLY should have left it that way it was and just enhanced it with HD, not remake it in HD!

I played it in the mall with one of my best friends, who LOVES the Simpsons, and it was soooo much fun! I'm glad it's coming to PSN, cos I can play it without worrying about putting in more quarters! I'll have to invite her when/if this comes out!

Seriously, why is Backbone considered a developer? They emulate old games onto other platforms! That's all they do! That's not developing! They're not making any games themselves!

Hell yes. I loved this game some 17 or so years ago in the arcades. Always wanted it on a console! Nothing spells good ol' American sexism like Marge using a vaccuum cleaner as a weapon!
