| I was sadly part of the 0.1% and was wondering why my password didn't work. |

| Wow, this is too little, too late from Sony. Presumably the accounts have been locked since the hacks a few months ago so I doubt many people in this situation aren't aware. Then again, I have had a lot of spam emails recently that I hadn't had before.. |

Good job, Sony. No sarcasm. I honestly think you did a good job. Very few people affected, you are on top of the situation immediately (even though the passwords were not stolen from their own network) and the announcement followed immediately. While the hackers do not seem to have learned anything, you did. For the interested, some thoughts on passwords for websites. http://xkcd.com/792/ http://xkcd.com/936/ @ Pingeh What? |

Can't believe people think this is ok. Does no one remembers a few months back when there was a major hack. Sony should have sorted this out. Funny how xbox does not seem to get this sort of thing very often. This simply is not good enough and will this be another scenario whereby Sony says 0.01% but the true figure is more vast. I think Sony should think long and hard if they want to keep people interested in ps3 cos I bet a lot of ppl will be put off. How about free games for the affected and I don't mean the cheap ass psn stuff that no one really wants. |

| did the idiots complaining even read the article, or did you just see "sony...accounts...unauthorized access" and begin trolling?? the article doesn't even say that the accounts were actually broken in to! it simply says that someone/something used a username/password pairing from another website and tried to access accounts. meaning, someone/something probably hacked something like hotmail, then took those same usernames and passwords and tried accessing psn accounts with them to see how many idiots use the same passwords for all their online activity. seriously, if people are going to be this stupid (directed at those that complain about this, like #3 and #8), then please do us all a favor and trade your ps3 for an xbox360, so we never have to deal with you in an online game! /rant |

people are so quick to jump on the "haha sony got hacked" bandwagon when in reality they weren't hacked, like #16 says, someone who hacked another site and got a list of usernames/passwords etc, went onto psn to see how many people use the same email/password combo for there, that doesn't mean sony got hacked at all, hell it's just the same as watching a friend enter their password, then going home and replicating their account and accessing it, does that mean you hacked sony? of course it fucking doesn't you ignorant morons. Grow up and stop your petty public outrage over something that hasn't even happened... but then those people are never the kind to check the facts first |

@16 Stop making assumptions. 1) I use different passwords online so please do not refer to me as stupid 2) In my first post (if you even read properly) it clearly suggests that I thought it was a release of information from over the summer hacks that caused PSN to be down for a few weeks. "/ rant" |

@ 22 actually, i wasn't calling YOU stupid over the password thing, i was calling YOU stupid for the "too little too late sony" comment (thinking you were saying it took them too long to say what happened). so i'll take that comment back as it was a misunderstanding. but, while you say i "can't read properly," maybe if you'd learn to type a proper paragraph, people wouldn't have issues reading your posts and misinterpret them. oh, and by the way, if you think sony is JUST NOW releasing information about the psn hacks that happened FIVE MONTHS AGO, then you are stupid.. |

"the overwhelming majority of the pairs resulted in failed matching attempts" Hmm, I'm not sure how this works but I was always under the impression this sort of information gets stored together on crappy websites. I'm having a laugh here but I guess I'll have to review the way I think coding or scripting or whatever works. |

| Not everyone locked out was affected. I got kicked mid-game and it told me invalid password. Sony support was closed when it happened so I waited till thismorning to call since I never got an email. After 20 minutes with a rep, they couldn't figure out why my account was locked. But they did assure me that I wasn't affected and nobody attempted to change any of my data. I think my biggest gripe is she told me it will take 24-48 hours for them to fix my account. Oh well.. Guess I'll play something on Steam for now. |

Meh, not that bad. But just to show you that there are twisted people out there. I got message from a "witheld" person claiming to work for sony and asked me for my details to confirm what I entered. Two things made me know he was a hacker, for one he has a TROPHY on his account. Even if he/she is informing via message, the person involved wouldn't even have a PS account. The second thing is, I just reset my password (note this was the first thing sony had us do). Yeah, major fail.
On topic, I have to admit the recovery time wasn't bad at all. |

My password is 28 characters long. And that is the maximum length of any password. My friend got hacked once , made me happy since he would never stop begging to me to get him some trophies or level him up on cod and many other things. If anyone else signs into your account, just keep resigning in if a hacker signs in and if you have a password with 10+ characters, the hacker won't have enough to time to change your password as long as you keep signing in when you're signed out until the hacker gives up. I suspect the hackers are using something like bruteforce and a dictionary on a jailbroken ps3. Sony should have preventive measures against that. |
