If you're one of those people who yearns for traditional Hitman, then IO Interactive has got you covered in Hitman: Absolution with a range of difficulty levels including a hardcore mode that caters to veteran fans of the series. There'll be a number of stealth assassin trophies to unlock too, with various parameters to fulfil.

"We will get into more details at a later point, but obviously it's linked to the playing style," said Lead Producer Hakan Abrak. "It's more pacify your enemies, be undetected, maybe solve the challenges in a smarter way. That will probably give you a stealth assassin achievement."

Abrak hopes that this will satisfy the die-hard Hitman fans who weren't particularly enamoured with the first gameplay demos, showing Agent 47's new-found ability to detect enemies through walls. "Rest assured, the hardcore fans that like to have replayablity value in the game or want to have this stealth assassin - you know, I'm the ultimate stealth assassin - that playing style, those achievements, are very much in the game," Abrak stated.

"There's a huge replayability value in it and we have some features in the game I cannot speak about that will enhance this and make this easier, and heighten the replayability value for the hardcore players as well."

Hitman: Absolution's hardcore difficulty will also have a special name, which has yet to be revealed. "I'm pretty sure it's going to please the hardcore fans. I can't say what it is," teased Abrak.

Hitman: Absolution is out in 2012.

Absolutely can't wait for this game. I've probably played through all the titles hundreds of times and I'm excited for a new experience since having all the levels memorized takes most the challenge out of the older titles. But a hardcore setting? Assassin difficulty was hard in itself so this should be interesting. It will force players to play the game the way it was truly meant to be played, stealthy. Trying to run and gun on higher difficulties usually ends in a swiss-cheese 47. Looking forward to the challenge.

Really looking forward to this game.I love stealth games (like Deus Ex Human Revolution ).Maybe they introduce "silent dart gun" to just put enemy into sleep.Same like above game just to piss of and confuse some players.

So I'm not trying to be sarcastic, but how is this game different from Deus-Ex as far as gameplay style?

Square Enix publishing two very similar games, eh?

Full disclosure/off topic I'm just wrapping up Deus-Ex right now and its a GOTY candidate for me.

@#3 Deus-ex can be similar to the Hitman series in some ways. Mainly the stealth aspect if you chose to play that way in Deus-Ex. However, Deus-Ex is more of an rpg experience where-as Hitman is more of a strategy assassination game. Sure, it has a story attached, but I'd never concider it an rpg. The stories aren't that in depth. Hitman is still very fun however. There's many ways of taking out your target, and the fun is figuring out through trial and error just how to accomplish those goals. I've gone back after 30+ playthroughs and still figured out strategies I never saw before. You really get to use your head and study your environment. There's no cloaking device, Jensen you cheap bastard. :P

Really hope it comes with some ingenious ways to eliminate your "targets" or "enemies" when playing as Agent 47 and not only using guns.

I will be honest. Seeing trough wall and all is fine because it is easier to complete. But to add this mode to try and be a real stealth assassin? Sign me up!!! Time to show what I got and learn from my mistakes.!(hell, this mode can actually pay in the long run and help you sneak by a few things)

This is really cool. And at #8, there's usually a few ways to take out your targets with the environment and still get your silent assassin.

How about releasing all other Hitman in HD collection?
This game is a must have, seriously there is no other games that I've liked that much on my old xbox and ps2.

If you run and shoot, you die, sneak up and kill silently and then hide the body, change clothes then place some devices to make the death looks like an incident, Priceless

Very keen for this one. Just hope they don't screw it with the old Gears of War/Uncharted cover 'n shoot mechanic. The best part about the old Hitman games was beating levels on Silent Assassin rating. Don't ask me why, but fast walking down a hallway when you know you've got guards coming around the corner, or frantically stuffing a body into a dumpster before some laundry worker spots you just gets your heart racing and your mouth going "shitshitshitshit!"

I hope it makes it so that the AI seems a lot more random. Which more make stealth kills all the more enjoyable.
