LittleBigPlanet 2 Move Pack Detailed
Written Friday, August 19, 2011 By Dave Olsen

Get your Moves at the ready folks.  The LittleBigPlanet 2 Move Pack (formally titled The Rise of the Cakeling) is a few short weeks away.  If you thought it would just be a small pack of levels incoming, you would be wrong.  MediaMolecule are describing this as their biggest DLC to date, and after seeing all of the new content, it's hard to argue with them.

While the price is still listed as TBA for all regions, a release date has been announced.  *Drum roll please* September 14, 2011 is when you'll see this in a PSN Store near you.  Seeing as how that is a Wednesday, we'll assume that is the European release date with the North American release date the day before on the 13th.

What does this pack include you ask?  Aside from the 14 new levels that introduce the new villain, the Cakeling who has come to destroy Craftworld and the new tools at the disposal of the good Sackpeople (for example, The Brain Crane which allows a Sackperson to control objects with it's mind), there will be new stickers, music, sounds, pins, and of course 11 new trophies (added to the site earlier this week).

In addition to all of that, the Move controller will be compatible with all story levels in LBP2 and all user created levels.  There will also be special tools that require the use of the Move in Create mode.  All of the new content is listed below, courtesy of LittleBigPlanet.com.

  • A brand new story for LittleBigPlanet 2 – The Rise of the Cakeling with 14 new levels (5 levels, 7 mini games and 2 cutscenes)
  • A new powerup for Sackboy: The Brane Crane
  • 3 huge new powerful gadgets for use with PlayStation®Move: The Movinator, The Move Recorder, The Paint Tool
  • 4 Interactive Music Tracks
  • 8 Music Sequencer Tracks
  • A new Sound Object containing 32 new sounds
  • 17 new Music Sequencer Instruments
  • A new level background
  • 6 New Costumes
  • 18 Materials
  • 41 Decorations
  • 13 Objects
  • 66 Stickers
  • 39 new LittleBigPlanet Pins
  • 11 brand new PlayStation® Trophies

If that wasn't enough, we have a trailer and new screenshots for you as well.

Check out the rest of the gallery with 10 new screenshots.

I'm not creative enough for this game, but I love seeing what others create from all the impressive tools that there are.

Looks good but sadly i don´t have Move (and i´m not interested in buy one at the moment).

Just i hope that Media Molecule explain well how create Move levels, don´t get me wrong i love LBP but the creating tutorials (principally of LBP 2) are horrible, doesn´t explain well, doesn´t help so much and just leave more questions in creating levels (beleive me or not i used youtube for learn how to create levels and cinematic/movies levels).

I wish it would come out this month instead, as a good game is coming out just about every week throughout September, October, and November.

I really want this. It's good advertising for Move, but it's a shame Move is REQUIRED to play this.

"14 new levels"

Yay!

"5 levels, 7 mini games"

...Oh. :(

I hope they're big levels then. I was never a fan of the mini games.

Never really got stuck in to LBP2 compared to LBP. Perhaps it just didn't feel as original second time round but depending on the pricing for this pack I might just give it another go.

@7 - i agree 100%. There's no way am i buying move for just one DLC of one game. Yet it would have been nice to play through the DLC and earn the trophies without having it. There's way too many good games coming out of the next month or two that will be stretching my wallet to the limit as it is without buying accesories too! :(
