Borderlands 2 Officially Confirmed

2K Games and Gearbox Software have officially announced that Borderlands 2 is indeed in development, following yesterday's report that a source had revealed the game was currently in the works. Now it's completely official and will be seeing a return to the same RPG-style FPS gameplay, with plenty of looting and four-player co-op.

There will also be four all-new characters with new classes and unique skills, as well as new environments, weapons and equipment in "an ambitiously crafted story". You'll unearth secrets and escalate the mysteries within the Borderlands universe, as you traverse and explore uncharted regions of Pandora in Borderlands 2.

Borderlands 2 will be making its debut at Gamescom 2011 in Cologne before heading to PAX Prime in Seattle, and is the cover story on the September issue of Game Informer, the cover of which you can take a look at below. Borderlands 2 is scheduled for release during Take-Two's fiscal year 2013, which begins on April 1st, 2012.

	This is great news! I really enjoyed the first game and I'm glad they are keeping it the same style as the first, can't wait to see what the new characters are like!

	Stoked!!! I hope Gearbox comes up with a cool name besides Borderlands 2. Something like Borderlands: Claptraps Up Yo' Ass. Not really that, but something. Just kind of jaded on the whole 2's and 3's of everything. Naughty Dog does this for Uncharted and it's better than just U3. I'll buy it either way.

	Sweet :). I just hope they use dedicated servers this time and not the rubbish GameSpy ones they're on at the moment.

	So sweeeet Got the original in February, GOTY edition, and it's one of the happier surprises I've gotten on the PS3. I have a really hard time concentrating on just 1 game at once, always have to have at least 3-5 games going at any given time or I get impatient with whatever I'm playing, but for 2 weeks I barely touched anything else than Borderlands and it's the game that has gotten most post-platinum gametime in my collection. I'll be getting this day 1

	I just recently beat Borderlands and I'm now going through the DLC and the game is great! I'm really excited for this game now.

	Heh, only recently got into the original Borderlands and was looking forward to Rage after finishing the DLC, but borderlands 2 sounds even better. I just hope they implement the character stories this time around...I still want to know what happened to Brink's sister.

	Just picked up the first one and all dlc on psn plus sale last week. Gonna have to platinum it and finish all dlc so that I'm prepped. So far the first one is great.

	I would have liked to go to a new world with new enemies, not just the new characters. Can't wait though. It may be a day 1.

	Is he one of the main characters? He looks kind of weird. Oh well, it's not like I'll be able to see him, lol Since he's holding two guns, does that mean you can go akimbo now? =D I'm playing and loving Borderlands 1 right now, this is gonna be Day 1 for me.

	First RAGE and now Borderlands 2 as well.... was waiting for borderlands 2 to be anounced just after the 4th DLC but it came anyways. Oh happy days.
