![]() | Twisted Metal Lead Designer David Jaffe Talks Multiplayer in Latest Trailer Written Wednesday, May 18, 2011 By Richard Walker View author's profile |
It's been rather quiet on the Twisted Metal front lately, but Lead Designer and Co-Director of the game, David Jaffe has spilled new details on the game's multiplayer in a new video interview posted on the PlayStation Blog, looking at the 16-player online vehicular insanity. There are further details to be gleaned from the same post on the PS Blog too, revealing that Twisted Metal's handling model will be predictable OTT, with cars able to accelerate in seconds, turning on a dime and unleashing a hail of rockets, bullets and other projectiles. Weapons will include such treats as the Swarmer Missile, Homing Missile, Napalm, Shotgun and an Ice Blast, as well as a special attack that inflicts massive damage if timed correctly. You can also shake the Sixaxis forward for a Turbo Ram and freely aim at rival racers with the right analogue stick. There will also be a greater emphasis on teamplay in Twisted Metal with Talon Helicopters able to winch players into better firing positions, Junkyard Dog tow trucks can drop repair kits and Juggernaut semi trucks will enable cars to drive into the trailer and man the high-powered turret housed within. Nimble Reaper motorcycles meanwhile, can deploy sticky bombs and blow anything to hell. Twisted Metal will be taking the vehicle-based carnage to the land and air when it launches on October 4th, 2011. Check out the video interview with Eat Sleep Play's Jaffe for more on the game and its multiplayer. | |
