TDU 2 Dev Eden Games Goes on Strike Following 'Atari Mismanagement'

Eden Games went on a "symbolic" one-day strike this week, with a proposed redundancy plan targeting 51 members of its 80-strong workforce. The strike occured yesterday in response to alleged "mismanagement" by Atari and in an effort to attract the attention of and hopefully communicate with Atari CEO, Jim Wilson, who according to a post announcing the strike on the Test Drive Unlimited 2 forums, "has never introduced himself to his employees".

The forum post comes from Eden Games' Development Engineer Patrice Béranger, who states that "Eden Games pays now for Atari mismanagement. For several years we are witnessing multiple leader changes at its head, they did not hesitate to get rich despite financial difficulties."

Béranger's post continues: "Restructuring plans have been following each others for 10 years at Atari. Each time the recovery project was beautiful and promising, and ended in a failure. We are skeptical about the proposed project."

Eden is hoping that the strike will open up negotiations with Atari employee representatives regarding redundancy plan measures, to "be sure that an employee of Eden Games is compensated the same way as an employee of Atari" as well as "have real visibility on the future of the studio after the restructuring, especially in giving us the financial records requested by our accountant."

No doubt we'll find out how all of this pans out in the coming days.

[Thanks, Henry]

No offense to them, I don't like people losing their jobs, but Eden deserves to be dropped after TDU2. I loved the first one to hell and back and they crapped all over the concept With the second I've played every racing game on the PS3/X360 and this is by far one of the worst, which again I hate to say because the first goes into my top 10 racing games.

I disagree, I am thoroughly enjoying TDU2. Yes it has had it's problems and glitches but at least the Devs are addressing the issues. I can't wait for the PSN to be up and running once more because I miss the Lv4 Poker Tournys and the friends I have made playing the game.
This is bad news because Eden have worked hard, and after all TDU2 is quite an ambitious undertaking.

Atari is the paradigm of mismanagement... if this bunch is going to go on strike every time Atari flubs up, they're not going to make another cent.

Meh... My copy is still on its way. Hope to still see some improvement in the game in the future.

Could not agree more with #1. The first game was one of my favourites of all time. The second? Oh boy. Aside from the outright broken servers, DLC not working properly and some of the worst dialogue in existence ... it's an MMO or MOOR or whatever they call it and in the year 2011 I still can't join a friend for races in a no mess no fuss way. No, I have to agree to meet at the most remote landmark and hope they spawn onto the map. It's ridiculous. Can't seem to ever find matches in the social challenges and any chance of earning a platinum in this game (which I'll admit is not my attraction to the franchise) is near impossible. Nearly wish I'd never played it to preserve the memory of the first.
