From Software has set an October release window for the arrival of giant mech stomper Armored Core V in Japan, with a closed beta set to precede the game's release, to ensure that its online battling is up to scratch.

In Armored Core V, players will battle for online territory and the war will even continue as long as your console is connected online. Famitsu magazine also details a variety of boosting options in the game, with a Glide Boost enabling you to boost in any direction, a Boost Charge gives you a devastating dash-kick as long as you attach the requisite parts to your mech, and the Hi-Boost is a rapid, short-distance dash.

You'll be able to jump and boost too, as well as adopting various stances, like the 'weapon shift' and 'purge' stances, which will enable you to refine your mech battling approach.

Armored Core V will be boosting its way into Japan in October 2011, while Namco Bandai will be publishing the game in North America and presumably Europe in early 2012.

This series bit the proverbial dust years ago... take it out to pasture already.

Sadly, this will be another underfunded Japanese attempt to keep up with the Westerners.

This is the Dynasty Warriors of mech games. Always changing features and coming up just short of fan expectations. But always a joy to play... I'm excited.

I wish they would put some extra effort in these games. They have so much potential. They always have clunky and sometimes hard to get into interface and could be better controls. I want to like these games but there is so much that needs to be improved.

I use to like these games. I got the original Armored Core for PS1 when it first came out, but since then they haven't seemed to add much to the formula.

Interesting thought about idea management going mainstream… I think it’s a byproduct of the information age we’re in…rs power leveling
