Sony Computer Entertainment has today confirmed that the long-awaited Ico & Shadow of the Colossus Collection has been delayed, alongside what we had pegged as one of 2011's biggest games, The Last Guardian.

It looks like it may have to be one of 2012's biggest games now, as The Last Guardian has been shifted from its Holiday 2011 release window, which means that the only place it be moved to is sometime in 2012. However, no new date or time frame has been announced.

Ico & Shadow of the Colossus Collection had also been on course for a Spring 2011 release, which means it might have been released soon. Now we'll have to wait for that too, although again, no release date or window has been confirmed.

Team ICO and Last Guardian Director/Game Designer Fumito Ueda, had this to say:

"I announced at last year’s Tokyo Game Show that the release timing of The Last Guardian which is currently being developed would be holiday 2011.

However, to provide more challenging and better quality of content to users and to fulfill First Party Studio’s obligations, I decided to postpone its release timing.

All the members of my production team are working together at a fast pace to develop and release the game in First Party Studio quality.

I sincerely apologise to all the customers who have been waiting for “The Last Guardian” for so long, but I beg for your patience. I will also announce the new release timing at a later time."

So, there you have it. It's going to be a long, long wait for The Last Guardian it seems. Here's hoping that we get some consolation with the Ico & Shadow Colossus Collection this year. Fingers crossed...
