Once you've finished solo adventuring with Drake in Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception, chances are you'll be delving headfirst into the game's multiplayer modes, which developer Naughty Dog has exhaustively detailed on the PlayStation Blog, showing off two of the maps and some of the game types on offer.

First up is The Chateau, which has multiple levels that cater for the good old adventuring staple, the ziplines, whereas The Airstrip is a two-part map where the environment transforms mid-match, changing from a chase that involves a cargo plane and trucks, to a more conventional hangar and outdoor location where fighter planes make strafing runs.

Multiplayer modes will include Team Deathmatch, Three Team Deathmatch involving 2 vs. 2 vs. 2 battles, and the much-requested everyone for themselves Free For All mode. Late Join features will also ensure that matches are kept full, and the game will also support local splitscreen for two separate PSN IDs on the same console for appropriate game types.

Add to all of this the new Buddy system that involves collecting treasures and being able to spawn on your partner to stick together, and a host of new character customisation options offering hundreds of customisable parts for your characters and weapons, and that's a whole lot of multiplayer newness right there. Boosters will also make a return for Uncharted 3, with a mix of new and old Boosters.

What's more, you'll be able to try all of this for yourself when the Uncharted 3 multiplayer beta gets underway worldwide on June 28th, 2011.
